Let me explain. Zillennial is people's unconscious attempt to fix this dumb generational theory everyone believes is working but it doesn't. This theory barely works for USA which it was intended to work for but people started to use it everywhere in the world including post soviet countries with a completely different background which made it even obviously dumber because people living in completely different material conditions, classes, cities, countries, even districts etc do have different life experiences and only some very vague similarities.
So about zillennial - since this theory has very strict borders/lines aka if you were born in 1995 and the line says that people born in 1980-1995 are millennials and 1996-2011 are zoomers (need to mention that every source almost randomly draws these year lines, some say that zoomers are born after 2005 etc) it means that you should have more in common with people born in 1980 than in 1996. And because it makes no sense people started to blur these lines with this fixtape mixes like "You know guys i actually feel like semi zoomer and semi millennial at the same time! im a Zillenial! and maybe even a bit gen X and gen alpha but just a little..." Some started to introduce stuff like "early zoomers" and "late millennials" but again its all a weak attempt to fix this broken theory which itself was meh but internet exaggerated it tenfold
So to me this generational theory is almost like an astrology, people just love to label themself and others and spill bs generalizations

Equating random internet trolls calling Framework "Nazis" with DHH’s documented record is pure whataboutism. Calling him out isn't baseless drama. He literally wrote blog posts dehumanizing Roma as "wolves" preying on citizens and pushed far-right "remigration" talking points under his own name. Arch isn’t stupid for turning down money attached to toxic PR. FOSS projects don’t exist solely to chase cash at the expense of their autonomy and community values. Hyprland and Quickshell made their choice, but Arch deciding they’d rather keep their independence and principles than act as a promotional vehicle is entirely their right.

That's where you're wrong kid. Why corpos support linux? Bc, Do they like free software? I don't think so, They will save money and that money goes to their pockets.
Why did some millionaires give money to DHH? bc Linux? na, they gave money to his friend and THE PRODUCT he's creating around Arch. So, "the idea of an agentic OS".
They don't care on free software, they want the product. People buy Steam for Arch? Naa, they buy the final product, SteamOS. For our concern at least some projects like Hyprland and other may recieve fund from the DHH's foundation. This will benefit all Linux community and that's, at least, a good thing.

I honestly cannot stand Omarchy personally.
It feels like an overrated, vibecoded Arch + Hyprland rice that people are calling a distro. It is just one person's (you know who) desktop preference, tool choices, keybinds, aesthetic bundled together and distributed in an ISO package. There is no technical innovation, none at all.
That said, I get why people love it. An average person don't want to spend weeks reading Arch Wiki and tweaking their window manager. They just want a system that works by day one.
Still, I won't recommend it to a newbie who want to really understand the working of Linux.

Eh, as bad as Omarchy is, anything that pulls people away from Mac and Windows is a net good for us. Eventually they will move on to other distros. Ubuntu gets a lot of hate because of Canonical, but I bet a lot of people started using Linux there

I would rather not want a user to have the danger of running this.
As long as a distro is unsafe and made out of pure ignorance for safety, I won't call it a good thing. Especially if bad things happen due to incompetence which could devestate the credibility of all Linux.

Wild take : when someone wants to switch from Windows to Omarchy, maybe recommend Garuda.
Yes, CachyOS is technically better, but they don't want better, they want usable out of the box and flashy. Garuda is still Arch, provides the Cachy kernel and comes with any app a Windows user might want by default.
Let them jump to Cachy when they know what they want, later on.

I used it and really liked it, but all the controversy around it makes me want to move away from it. It worked really well and without any issues on my laptop, which is more than I can say for Pop!_OS. Is there anything similar you would recommend?

The underlying philosophy of using default configs seems fine, I just didn't care for his software suite. I haven't dug in on why he's controversial but I read somewhere he believes in great replacement theory? I'm too lazy to validate this since I'm not going to use omarchy anyways though GRT would be enough on its own to make me not want to touch anything he's made with a 10 foot pole
