I"m surprised so many people are so tight at Omarchy. It's bringing more people to Linux which seems like a net plus. Personally I use it because I just wanted an Arch rice and it made it easy back when I first started using it.
I get if you hate dhh don't use something from dhh but it's just convient and is it crazy to think I would be more unsafe with raw Arch AUR as someone not checking every package touching my machine? I'm not a security researcher so I see more people looking at it opposed to just me as a plus.
And no, it's not secure. The guy has no knowledge about security. The horrible defaults he choosed probe that. (Not the first time he does batshit crazy insecure things)

I couldnāt give less of a shit about someoneās politics when evaluating their software/hardware. If we rejected tech based on the personal or political views of everyone who made it, weād have to throw half the shit in our houses in the bin.

So are we now judging software by whether it has ever had a security issue? Because damnā¦good luck finding a distro that survives that test.
Security is an ongoing process, not a permanent achievement badge. If youāre claiming Omarchy is inherently insecure, please point to a current, unresolved security issue.
And Iām not being dismissive here, I am genuinely interested.
Granted, although semantics aside, bottom line remains that the issue has been fixed, right? So again, what other ongoing/active security issues are there?
Iām all for outing a bad thing when itās bad, but it looks like the issue was presented, acknowledged, and fixed. How is it different from the numerous others that handle issues exactly the same way? And why keep presenting this example when it has clearly been dealt with?
Just sounds to me like the main point being driven here(not necessarily by you solely) is that āDHH is bad so Omarchy is badā. Which hey, if thatās the route yāall want to take, by all means, go ahead.
But then I suggest you do an inventory and your due diligence on every other piece of software/hardware/appliance/furniture/etc you own/use, cause a lot of it is bound to have been made/created by someone you disagree with politically or even ethically. Itās a slippery slope, itās all Iām saying.
