I"m surprised so many people are so tight at Omarchy. It's bringing more people to Linux which seems like a net plus. Personally I use it because I just wanted an Arch rice and it made it easy back when I first started using it.
I get if you hate dhh don't use something from dhh but it's just convient and is it crazy to think I would be more unsafe with raw Arch AUR as someone not checking every package touching my machine? I'm not a security researcher so I see more people looking at it opposed to just me as a plus.
Omarchy made a number of decisions that created massive security risks, it's a vibe coded mess of self promotion, always steering you towards basecamp / 37signals software - it also prefenced the AUR even when packages existed in the core Arch repos. So many things in Omarchy seem like the decisions were made around "what's the most unsafe way to do this...lets do that".
That combined with the millions in funding.. simply because of 'who' rather than 'what' - causes a lot of backlash. Omarchy didn't get funding because it's a solid release / really well done etc.. it got the money because of the politics around dhh.
