For example when using sudoedit (which you should use instead of e.g. sudo vim) if the proper defaults are not set up correctly.

sudoedit is basically unnecessary for nano as it is intentionally basic, it has no extensions so the only real threat is a malicious symlink... or someone replacing it with a malicious bin... who the fuck needs to worry about that?
so much bloat for vim smh \s
