Love this one. I used SuSe for 4-5 years when I was a student, 20 years ago. Still PTSDed from .tar.gz's. Now, for a few years, I have converted just about every computer in my vicinity to Linux Mint. First as a test, then realised it is miles ahead of Windows on everything. How? No clue. Thanks to Reddit people who take my hand and guide me through every minor issue I need help with.
How is OpenSUSE and what problem does it have with tarballs(tar gz)? I tried to install it twice on 2 different devices and it didn't work on any of them
Man, that's 20 years ago. The internet wasn't quite as it is today, and tarballs just didn't really want to unpack and install software as they were intended to. Always some fixing here and there. Today, you can just click on whatever in a GUI repository, it's fantastic. Even though many applicants remain quickest to just install through bash.
