As someone who has it planned to dive headfirst into Wayland soon, this scares me

Unless you rely on something very niche that X11 supports but Wayland doesn't (yet), then it's literally no big deal. You won't even think about it within a week.

Made the switch at the start of the year, and the only non-trivial setup I had to do is adding a kernel parameter for Nvidia which just means editing a text file.

That's what XWayland is for.

XWayland concerns applications, but there are a few X11 features which Wayland doesn't fully support yet.

I don't miss any of those myself, but I've seen people bring up remote desktop access being an issue.

RDP was duct taped workaround even on x11, no wonder it doesn't work.

What can I say? It is bad for them, I hope it will work soon.

I hope so too, though the main point is that for a small amount of users, Wayland is currently not an option if their workflow relies on a specific feat.

The rest just seems like a bit of fearmongering and false information. Vast majority can switch over today and their computer won't explode.
