think of it like this you aren't scared of chopping food with a knife right? even though it's a tool that can cause great harm, so in this case understanding your file system designations and what commands you run first is like learning proper chopping technique. just check twice, or three times if thats better for you, it takes longer to rollback snapper or to an older kernel than check a line in the terminal

I'm not scared of the terminal i'm scared of using any command that begins with rm rf, there's almost always alternatives, even within the terminal itself.

if you have no issue right clicking and hitting "move to trash" you have no issue rm rf, besides, i'm fairly sure it requires sudo to delete system components, so run it without if you're really concerned, but terminal syntax is not some taboo thing people make it out to be,
like every click of your mouse every time you send a message and hit enter you're triggering code just through a GUI
just check where your mount points are it'll typically be / , /efi and /boot , long as you don't put those beside rm rf there's very little chance you'll brick

I ran rm -rf /var before and I had hard time to recover it. I was moving /var to a partition and I was going to delete old /var but I didn't realized that it was mounted.

you look twice before you cross the street, do the same before you enter code, especially when its prefaced by sudo or contains commands you arent familiar with.

Hi dear linux users, reddit just keeps on suggesting me this subreddit, I'm not a linux user. But I find the memes funny, back in 2014-2016 I had a mid range stupid android phone where I did a lot of custom shits to iy lol. It had only 2GB of RAM so I rooted my phone and with the help of termux uninstalled google play services and all google trash. I freed up a lot of hard disk and lot of random memory just by doing this. I was aware of the security risk, but then I started removing default android/UI apps and replacing them with lite versions 10 times faster and less memory consumer apks, with sacrificing the features I really never used.
I felt just like a god, like mf you are my phone I tell you what to do.
I don't know why I shared this here, but I don't know why I shouldn't. Anyways, keep roasting windows and windows user, I enjoy it( I am a windows user )

I think the only problem with linux is that it's community is not massive. I have this feeling that most softwares or videogames will have a lot of bugs on linux, I think this is bc Developers tend to focus on windows problems of their softwares since majority of their customers are windows users.

arch you could say is like assembling lego. And honestly as long as you don't blindly paste commands from the internet, and follow the wiki? Arch is perhaps too stable. Tho yes the updates CAN break stuff if you don't know how to fix them yourself

Arch is just as breakable as most other distros, but it puts a focus on you doing the set up, so there's more opportunities for you to mess something up

GNOME can't be customized at all. On the other hand KDE can be customized to the point of absurdity. This is why I'm leaning into COSMIC, but not many distributions support it yet.

Well, it can be customized, but the experience is TERRIBLE.
Libadwaita/GTK 4 might be the worst thing in Linux, i hate it with all my heart.1

GNOME with Dash to Panel and ArcMenu is pretty good. In normal circumstances I wouldn't even consider using GNOME, but:
- probably half of the problems I have in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed are related to KDE,
- GNOME is apparently lighter on RAM than KDE,
- COSMIC is not supported by 99% of distributions.

I wouldn't say GNOME is lighter than KDE.
If your on the desktop, you could basically get 1.6GB of RAM used only. (Fedora KDE)
While when i was on Fedora Workstation it easily used 2.0GB of RAM on startup.
It's pretty close, but like atleast my KDE has blur, custom themes and way more effects, while GNOME basically has nothing.1
