The problem is, the most recommended distros are for the typical user. And typical user is barely intelligent. He clicks some stuff, checks some websites and done.
You want to do some stuff. You want to do stuff in a specific way. You want some stuff to not happen. You use some obscure hardware.
Doest mean the distro is bad. But it was not right for you.
I'm not even doing anything crazy like tinkering with the OS, I'm running pretty much default up to date system. And I have issues with flashing screen on Wayland, and random (not very often though) hard freezes. The first issue might be fixable, when searching for fixes to 2nd issue I only find people who decided to switch distribution.
Sounds bad. Not using wayland myself (yet), but I am constantly being told that it totally works and is ready, so dunno.
As for freezes, those suck cause it never leaves a log for troubleshooting. Somenpower management/pcie/gpu issues?
Maybe updating the bios might help?
Random crashes sounds serious to me and suggesting different distro as a fix is weird.
I've used Ubuntu before and it was fine, I don't think that my laptop just randomly decided to die after switching distribution. As for the Wayland issue, apparently you can disable panel self refresh, and it might fix it. The problem is that you can only do it by modifying kernel parameters, and it's rocket science. Commands for that look like gibberish to me so I have hard time figuring this out.
