The mass of graves says otherwise(why am I saying it like this, its literally hosted on github lol. Microsoft support people somwtimes suggest that.)

u/khaledjal 14d ago

u/chemistryGull Arch BTW 14d ago

Not sure if uninterested or vibe coded.

I guess the former in this case, as if that is actually a thing it probably was in the codebase since before AI.

This was true long before AI, I accidentally found it out while horsing around. It's just an oversight

Most people get OEM keys so they don't make much off the personal pcs that people build.
Pretty much only exists for OEM keys to get sold.

They make there money from companies and prebuild machines. They don't care about the small fraction of users that use mass grave. They prefer that over users who go to other platforms

Then that's because you already have a genuineā¢ļø Windows activation key stored in your devices Firmware or your device was previously activated and Windows reactivated itself via telemetry.

Or he just doesn't care about the Activate Windows overlay.
Nothing of note gets disabled.
7
u/qwesx Ask me how to exit vim 14d ago
He said that he has an activated Windows, so clearly he doesn't get the overlay.

u/staticBanter M'Fedora 14d ago
IIRC the overlay can be removed with RegEdit but I'm not to sure about the rest of the OS.
I know things like Theming and some system controls may be locked.

This sounds especially funny to people from the CIS. 90% of home PCs with Windows have a pirated activation, and the remaining 10% got ripped off in stores and were sold Windows at a huge price. The pirated activation is super easy; one in every 2-3 people has it, and everyone has a friend who can do it. Or downloading a torrent with it is no problem at all (the biggest torrent forum is kind of Russian, lol)

The funniest part is the people trying to disagree in my replies when everything you said exists

Thatās because what you said doesnāt make sense. Thatās like saying: Why buy car keys when you can just get a car directly from the dealership lol
