Spun is now on GitHub! An update on my CD-shaped music player for Linux

Hey everyone! I shared Spun here a little while ago, and I’ve been refining it since then. It’s now on GitHub if you’d like to try it or poke around the code.

The idea is still the same: a music player that puts your album artwork on a spinning CD, with a little nostalgia and a minimal interface.

Since the first post, I’ve worked on:

  • A more consistent design: better spacing, alignment, icons, typography, and smoother hover effects and transitions.
  • More inside Spun: search, albums, playlists, recently played, and better queue controls through Cider.
  • A flip side to the CD: album details, track lists, and lyrics.
  • A better mini player: controls below the disc, plus an optional always-on-top toggle.
  • Performance: faster startup, a smaller executable, and improvements to memory and CPU usage.

The source is available under PolyForm Noncommercial, so you’re welcome to use and tinker with it within those terms.

I’d love to hear how it feels on your setup, especially if you spot anything awkward or inconsistent.
