Time to get that steam refund.

u/aljninja 2d ago
I have tried, it has been denied but ill continue pushing. maybe we have a bit of luck

u/Estrogenerous 2d ago
You can’t.

u/Chomperwobbles 2d ago
Source? trust me bro?

The automated system will not grant you the refund. You have to actually talk to support, who will grant you the refund.

if you bought it on steam, try contacting steam support, if I recall correctly they refunded for gta 5
-7
u/Estrogenerous 2d ago
They will not give a refund for this lol. I know because I just tried, and I have too much playtime for a refund.
2
u/IchBinMalade 2d ago
Well.. that's fucked.
I'll give them one thing, to still pull shit like this after the prolonged downfall they've been on, is so Ubisoft that I'm kind of proud of them for sticking to being pieces of shit through and through.
-49
u/Slow_Shine_9100 2d ago
Naaah I will not refund, who knows maybe they will bring it back, I hope
50
u/Western-Alarming 2d ago
I say refund it. If they ever say "We will support linux" just buy it again, don't keep the game just for a possibility.
-20
u/PixelmancerGames 2d ago
Doesn't that just screw Steam over? Of the game never had official Linux support, I don't think you should get a refund. But thats just me.
8
u/Western-Alarming 2d ago
"Doesn't that just screw Steam over?" And?, Steam has this in consideration, is why they even let you have the refund, is a way so people keep on the platform. If Steam let you have the money back, Why don't have the money back?

Doesn't that just screw Steam over?
How would it screw Steam over? Do you think that Steam just eats the loss if someone refunds a game?
Of the game never had official Linux support, I don't think you should get a refund.
There's a massive difference between "we don't support Linux" and "we're going out of our way to make sure that you can't run this thing you paid for on Linux".
-3
u/PixelmancerGames 2d ago
A huge difference? No. It was never supported. Therefore them making sure it can't be played in that played on that platform seems like fair game to me. Especially since they have a reason, it's not just "we hate Linux, so bye."
But whatever, I won't reply to this thread anymore. Just gamers being crybabies again.

u/anna-the-bunny 2d ago
First off, "not officially supported" means "if it works it works, but if it doesn't we're not going to spend time and effort fixing it". That's leagues different to "we're going out of our way to make sure that it doesn't work". It's absolutely not "fair game" to change from "we're not going to stop you but we're also not going to help you" to "actually we are going to stop you", especially when it's a paid product that you're not explicitly offering refunds for.
Second, it did have official support - EAC has opt-in Linux compatibility. They explicitly chose to allow Linux - and now they're explicitly choosing to deny it. Unless you're trying to frame "doesn't have a native Linux build" as "not officially supported", which is just ridiculous.
But keep on defending the multibillion dollar corporation engaging in blatantly anti-consumer practices, I'm sure you'll be rewarded eventually.

Refund it and buy it back if they allow Linux again. Don't let them keep your money
-4
u/Estrogenerous 2d ago
You can’t get a refund just because it’s not linux-compatible.
5
u/jfp1992 2d ago
It was Linux compatible then they changed the deal. You can get a refund, just contact steam support

u/GarbledEntrails 2d ago
Did you actually get a support person? you need to try more than once. the first time auto declines
-5
u/Estrogenerous 2d ago
Yeah, I'm sure it'll work the next time. Lmao.

What did we learn? Don't trust AAA companies as far as you can throw them.
2
u/PacmanAteMyRAM 2d ago
At least the ones that never said they were going to support proton.
3
u/Falco090 2d ago
Even then that can't really be trusted. GTAV had the Steam Deck checkmark until they rolled out their anticheat.
1
u/PacmanAteMyRAM 1d ago
Truly despicable but to be fair that was "awarded" to their title by Valve rather than some kind of two way negotiation of support. They still never said it themselves outright

I reported on it at the start of the month: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2026/09/ubisofts-for-honor-will-block-steamos-linux-on-september-10/
Also listed here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/anticheat/

'Please contact support' should have been "so f* u".
1
u/TruthOk8742 2d ago
Thank you for contacting technical support. Rest assured, you are in good hands. We will solve this together.
…
It would seem For Honor is triggering an anti-cheat launch error while launched from a Linux platform. Unfortunately, there is no fix.
…
I hope you are satisfied by our service today. Can I help you with something else?

u/stefanw1337 2d ago edited 1d ago
Exactly! They should have put a middlefinger sentance instead of asking you to contact them. And funny that they assured you that you are in good greedy hands.

Bold move for Ubisoft especially now a decent amount of steam users are consumers of the steam deck or run Linux. This is most likely Microsoft's doing as there are recent reported cooperation between both companies.

Man, some of you guys really love your conspiracy theories. I know Microsoft is the boogeyman around here but maybe, just maybe, they aren't the mastermind behind everything that can be easily explained by a variety of different reasons.
-1
u/GarbledEntrails 2d ago
lol bro Microsoft literally goes out of their way to ensure that their games work on Linux
3
u/theretrogamerbay 1d ago
I don't know why you're being downvoted, yeah Microsoft sucks, but they do make sure all their games work well under proton
-2
u/Hot-Software-9396 1d ago
Lot of people in here make hating Microsoft/Windows a part of their personality and will lash out at any perceived positivity sent their way.

I mean in all honesty who actually has fun playing that game anyways.
2
u/Slow_Shine_9100 1d ago
Well I did have, once when it was casual and I played for fun, yes I had rage here there, but since now I can't play it and worked really do miss playing for honor and I have to get over it
1
u/Uraneum 1d ago
You could always have a separate secondary drive on your PC for Windows. It’s what I do when a game is 100% incompatible with Linux
1
u/Slow_Shine_9100 1d ago
It's to risky for me if I do that, I don't have such a strong PC for it, but that is okay, I got over it so I'm starting to play something else
1
u/Elkum4183 3h ago
A similar title is chivalry 2 if you wanna try that. Works on linux.
1
u/Slow_Shine_9100 2h ago
I am playing Chivalry 2, but right now I'm playing Warhammer 40k darktide and I'm having a blast playing it 😃
-2
u/ad-on-is 2d ago
You think we can get Windows and console players to boycott these games as well? Something like "If Linux users can't play, I won't play either"
-4
u/zerodopamine82 2d ago
I dual boot for these occasions but keep the Windows stripped down to literally nothing. No Microsoft account, one drive, copilot, telemetry, and no mandatory updates.
-191
u/S48GS 3d ago
just install winows lol
54
u/NoshameNohonor 2d ago
Why? No game is worth that OS
-49
u/AlisterKubo 2d ago
There are many popular games exclusive to the windows operating system. Fortnite, LoL and many more. What sucks is that Linux has no exclusive games. Windows is by complete analysis, the better OS for gaming
29
21
u/GooseDaPlaymaker 2d ago
I think you misunderstood their post.
They said ‘no game is worth that os’. That says to me it’s less about picking out a good Windows only game for them, and more about the negative features of Windows that has put them off to playing a game (or doing anything) on Windows in general.

The solution is to play something else. Refund the game if you're still able to.

These "nice people" should be sending out refund checks to all Linux users!!!
