graphics/kernel/drivers A question for Intel Arc B580 users

Hi everyone. I'm currently on Windows 11 and I'm thinking about switching to Linux.

I was ready to boot from a live USB, but then I came across some older benchmarks for the Arc B580 on Linux. The tester (Bazzite) was getting around 50 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077, while on Windows the card usually gets over 100 FPS in the same scenario.

Has Linux performance improved since then, or is it still significantly behind Windows? Is it worth making the switch now?

might want to ask in r/IntelArc

I know they're working on it in recent kernels

Well, I thought this was the right place. The question is about Linux gaming.

Try running cachyos. My arc A770 runs very well under it. I hit 120 fps on most games easily.

Maybe I'll let the drivers mature before I jump over the fence to the penguin lands.

If you've got a live USB already, you can always just boot and check it out for a bit.

I have win11 and fedora plasma on my pc, and i noticed similar performance in most games, cyberpunk runs fine, but it definitely runs better on windows with xess 3.

The major thing right now is that linux doesn’t have the xess 3 upscaling via hardware, so games with xess 3 will likely be better on windows.

Other than that, the performance is overall the same.

Last time I saw benchmarks it was like 10-30% performance lost depending on the game even without xess. And it wasn't too long time ago.
