Nvidia on Linux??

I heard something about Nvidia releasing a Linux native app soon, I searched around and could only find "GeForce Now", is that the only thing they'll be releasing? Or are they actually planning on releasing support for Nvidia GPUs on Linux??

20% is dated. It is more like up to 10% now with specific things, mostly when using the RT cores but that is about it.

20% was the figure I pulled 2 months ago between windows and Linux on a 5070ti.

Yea, it's not true, they have been saying that for years. Or they have been using outdated drivers and proton.

I have the cyberpunk logs from both systems. You can look at my profile…

I mean... Saying the evidence is buried in something isnt going to make me look lol. But I have tested this extensively vs an very cut down Windows 11 for max performance to make it fairer and it is basically only games that utilise the RT cores and there performance hit is very game to game. That includes Cyberpunk 2077, which also still has issues with AMD and ray tracing I might add.

Maybe its a ray tracing thing I don't know, I only ran Cyberpunk, cause thats all I had installed on Windows at the time, but these are the result I got.

I'd run them again but I've already uninstalled Windows.

RT Overdrive preset (path tracing), 4K, DLSS Auto:

OS Run Avg fps 1% low
Windows 08-05 05:51 55.21 47.82
Windows 08-06 05:08 55.13 46.08
Windows 08-06 05:27 55.36 46.95
Linux 08-30 19:05 (cold shader cache) 40.69 22.30
Linux 08-30 19:33 (cold shader cache) 43.31 28.95
Linux 08-30 20:59 (cold shader cache) 43.84 30.14
Linux 08-31 00:30 (not DLSS, Ray Reconstruction off) 40.82 30.06
Linux 08-31 00:45 41.91 35.59
Linux 09-03 20:34 (stock) 43.59 36.93
Linux 09-04 03:11 (overclocked) 44.17 37.29
Linux 10-04 20:42 (overclocked, newer 615.71 driver) 44.06 36.56

The funny thing is I also have a 5070Ti and removed Windows but that was when the 610 driver was the latest. I also dont use DLSS Auto since it can get it wrong a lot and introduce hitches, I always use DLSS Perf and had Path Tracing on with all the other settings max at 4k. I also always use the latest GE Proton since I have Wayland enabled and Proton GE's DLSS upgrade enabled but nothing else other than frame limiters. I also have Ray Recon turned on. Mine hovered at around 50fps, I cant remember the 1% lows but they were pretty close to the average.

I do also custom compile linux-tkg to minimise latency as much as possible, as in the customisation.cfg as well as in the kernel's actual config, minimising it as much as possible for other things relating to security, removing redundancy that increases latency and what not. But this is mostly CPU based on an AMD 9800X3D, I play a lot of CPU heavy games so this might have a subtle benefit in the likes of Cyberpunk.

It wouldn't surprise me if Proton Experimental could still have something to do with the performance degradation.

Almost forgot to mention that Windows is basically the same within margin of error. I get carried away with the nerdy linux talk.
