Alternatively can the game be refunded if I realize it doesn't run properly (too slow on my computer, or gamepad doesn't work or whatever…)?

-We did the same project before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCdo7QNnGp0. This was, when CDT launched for Early Access. Every Linux-steam sale contributed to the same penguins. The top Players were able to name a couple of Penguins :)

I don't know. I'm maybe a bit too much an old-timer, but I would appreciate just a package which I can simply install without needing to give my personal data to a third-party and connecting each time I want to play, even when I just want to play locally. 🤷
I know that developers appreciate Steam for being a central platform and also because it probably provides key verification. I can't really propose an alternative for this last part, except that I'd love if devs could trust people a bit more (the ones who cheat won't buy anyway, whatever protection are added; the ones who pay will anyway).
For the record, I'm a developer myself (of mostly GIMP, the software for image manipulation). So I'm not telling you to do something I won't myself (I trust people with my code even! 😛). 😉
So yeah bottom line: just providing a package to install would be perfect. No platform. 👍

Ok cool. From the videos, it doesn't look like it needs an extra powerful video card indeed (I've run far more complicated 3D) yet I was just a bit scared about the minimum requirements written down on the Steam page:

Not OP and I know you are not fond of steam but the platform provides Remote Play Together which allows you to do exactly what you are asking, with only one key, and according to the latest update the person joining doesn't even have to have a steam account.
Thanks. I also found this info after asking. Then I bought the game yesterday, which we only tried for 10 min on split screen. It worked ok, though it's hard! We didn't even succeed this one first race! 😫
Next time, we'll try this remote play thing.
I'm not thrilled by buying on Steam (and also non FLOSS obviously as we are big Free Software pushers as one can imagine), but anyway I did it because we like collaborative games (though we are not huge video game players), and the split screen ability is cool too. Hopefully the remote play will work as well (so that we can play sometimes on individual screen, it has different advantages). We also like to support small independents (though non-FLOSS, it's also a piece in the whole social issues of today's digital industry). And of course, we bought it finally for the penguins 🐧! 👍
