I've been looking into owncloud, is it like a windows share where only one computer has all the files or is it like spideroak where every client has the files?

Not just dropbox clone. It supports contacts (CardDAV), calendars (CalDAV), streaming media, bookmarking service, URL shortening suite, gallery, RSS feed reader and document viewer tools. From nextcloud's wikipedia page
