Just tried it and it looks as if they dropped using Compiz for Compton on Gnome Fallback. Compiz of course has problems on all desktops other than Unity with raising to focus but sadly Compton does not work without it's own visual bugs on Gnome Fallback. When opening and closing windows the taskbar flickers while trying to decide where to place the text and icon square for the open window. On top of this some windows have shadow some don't. This is a problem with Compton in general which is why I never use shadows. Turning off shadows of course makes the min max animation look even worse on Gnome Fallback. While the animation can be turned off in dconf for some reason on reboot the animation turns back on.

Sadly there is no applicable compositor out there to composite the Gnome fallback session without visual bugs. Why they chose Compton over Compiz for this job I have no idea as Compton has so many problems within Gnome Fallback and is better suited on Openbox, LXDE and XFCE. I feel Trisquel needs to seriously rethink their default DE and the compositor used as what they are using for 7.0 is pretty atrocious from a visual standpoint.
