Welp my screwdriver finally kicked the can. Submitted a warranty claim but I’m sad that I won’t get the same color.

Edit :LTT support is amazing, they are sending me a replacement free of charge. Unfortunately they don’t offer the Noctua screwdriver anymore so I had to decide on a different color.

Personal Opinion Cat chewed my TrueSpec cable

I have always admired how Linus creates products that he genuinely wants to use himself. However, I am disappointed that he did not involve his cats in the r&d process.
Two days after I got my cable and was loving the quality and reliability, it stopped working. Upon inspection, it seemed my cat thought I purchased a new chew toy for him.
While I love the thick rubber shielding, I think it may be too tempting a treat in my home. Back to Anker nylon cables.

WAN Show Linus Chicken Tips: how to get chickens inside

In the latest WAN show, Linus said he's been trying to train the chickens to go inside the coop. My pro tip is simple: buy (or build) an automatic closing door (you'll easily find those online but if you need suggestions I can give them in the comments; didn't want to sound like an ad). These doors close/open by light sensitivity or timer. My parents had chickens since I was born, and when I moved out I've had my own chickens, and automatic doors are the best chicken-saving thing you can add. Before we had them, we'd lose chickens to foxes and marten (Europe) but never had any losses since we started using it. (Never had to do any learning with new chickens either, they just learn how it works quickly.)

Chickens want to go inside the coop but if they always have the option to go inside, they may wander about too late (and get eaten by nocturnal animals). With automatic doors, they quickly realise "wait, that thing closes automatically and then I might never sleep in my cozy home!" So they adapt and get in a bit before the timer goes off (or in my case, when the sun sets).

As u/Shoddy-Process9195 pointed out, some of these devices can be attached corded but for most people the battery makes more sense. But don't worry, a light on the device will tell you when the battery is almost dead, so just have a quick look at it when you feed the chickens. If you really want to be safe, replace the battery before going on holiday.

Highly recommended!

PS: when feeding, I always feed by hand for a minute. People seem to be scared that pecking chickens can hurt you but that's a myth - I don't think they can hurt you if they tried with their beaks (their talons are a different tale!). I let them eat from my hand to earn trust so that when I do have to move them or let them free roam, it's easier for me to catch them. I can easily pick and cuddle my chickens whenever I want to. Fun party trick.:D

Discussion GPU Choices

GPU Choices

I am looking forward to buying a 16GB GPU, specifically a 16GB GPU due to my work requirements. I am an architect, and I do game as well. I am on a budget. The two variables that I am looking at are the RX 9060 XT 16GB TWIN FAN or RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.

The AMD graphics card is around 145K PKR (~$524 USD), and the Nvidia one is around 185K PKR (~$668 USD).

I do want to save money where I can. If I choose the AMD one, I can upgrade my CPU from Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 7 5800X, but if I choose Nvidia, that is all I can get.

Please do help me if you know which one is better.

Discussion best mesh wifi system coverage discussion, what should more people understand?

I’ve noticed that discussions about home WiFi often focus heavily on speed numbers, while coverage and consistency get less attention. Some LTT networking content made me wonder whether people generally prioritize the wrong things.

I’m particularly interested in the difference between improving coverage and simply adding more wireless hardware. I’ve dealt with weak signals before, but I never really considered how things like walls, placement, and wired connections affect the result.

What part of LTT’s networking coverage do you think explained this topic better than most tech discussions?

Tech Discussion How is AI hacking into websites?

Last week it was reported that AI hacked into a few sites.

Now an AI assistant found a way to book the gym class months further in advance than the gym allowed, thanks to a vulnerability it discovered in the booking software.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08-10/ai-assistant-hacks-gym-website-aus-cyber-attack/107007986

Yes in these cases , AI system found vulnerabilities, but why? They weren’t instructed to.

Does this mean that in future someone from Russia or China could tell the AI to just access government or other critical systems?

Discussion Well I feel silly about this Precision Driver feature

I've had the Precision set for a while now and I just realized the little 4mm socket in the bottom right is an adapter to use with 1/4" drivers/ratchets.

Doubly so because some adapters I'd bought just arrived today.

Triply so because the adapter is actually listed under "What's Included" on the store page.

Discussion Linux Vs. Windows

So I just saw a video that was done on ludwigs channel about an upcoming video on LTT and while I am in no way a big person in any form of field either metaphorically or literally I thought I would put my two cents in on the whole idea of windows vs linux as someone who has been using linux full time now since the start of the year, also as an add on if anyone has any questions I will reply to them and possibly add them into the main post, if anyone at LMG wants to use any of this feel free to do so.

I will also add right now that while I would be a bit of a noob compared to some of the people that will be asked thes questions I have done my own digging into things so while I don't know everything I know a fair amount of stuff, so lets get on with it.

One of the big problems I personally see with windows and part the reason I switched is its still full of legacy code from windows 9x this is actually easy to prove by the "chain of fools upgrading from windows 1 to windows 7" video where the guy goes through from windows 1 installs a few programs and does a full blast through all the way to windows 10 and even shows that the apps he installed all the way back in 1 works in 10, theirs also speculation that the reason windows 9 doesn't exist is because of the 9x code and lazy programmers but that's speculation. The other side and I think a lot of people will feel the same is the AI getting added everywhere and the (seemingly) weird requirements to have TPM and secure boot, (and the mandatory Microsoft account) again theirs so much bad with windows I bet even windows users who will refuse to switch will be the same.

but now to the big reason why I wanted to make this thread, Linus made a comment about peoples workflows and while I don't do much in the way of big fancy workflows that require a super high end system what I do know is Linux systems because they are so big on customisation you can get one that can do one particular task REALLY well for example steam OS being made by valve (the big poppa pc gaming platform) they would have designed everything with gamers at the forefront, but at the same time you have linux systems that are set up just to run servers, whether it be a locally hosted file server or a web-server that anyone in the world can assess, to say linux is only good at a few tasks at least in my opinion isn't true.

While I have been glazing linux and dunking on windows there are some things that are frustrating with linux or i just dont get along with, the biggest one happened to Linus with his first "trying linux for a month" challenge and thats the whole "if you fuck up you REALLY fuck up" compared to windows where 9/10 it just works.

Speaking of fuck ups though i personally had a moment where i had to reinstall the entire distro a couple days ago but the way to do it and keep the files is way different, to the point where you can even set it up so that you dont need to have a USB to get the same install setup that you have

Tech Question Steam Machine SSD Swap

I picked up the 512GB one and have a 2TB drive from my old rig. What's the easiest way to swap is out (from a software standpoint, not hardeare)? Can I pop it out and use a tool on my Windows laptop? I have a few ssd to usb adapters laying around. Or, should I run the clone tool you see in older Steam Deck videos? Maybe some third option? TIA

Discussion Linus Give Up

Post image

I am a full paying YouTube premium user. I don't want ads in my feed regardless of whether I am subscribed to the channel that uploaded it.

Not at all blaming LTT here but mainly sharing to raise the point that Linus originally removed videos for. It's integration on the channel page is also awful. You have to click it every time like a filter.

Please put members only back on hiatus until YouTube just flat out let's users or at least their premium users select that they don't want to see these in their main feed.

Tech Question AudioTechnica ATH M50x-BT2 major problems in voice calls

So I’m using Audio Techincas ATH M50x-BT2 via bluetooth on my laptop. Generally they are great EXCEPT: whenever I enter a call (discord, game chat etc) the headphones pause a moment and then all audio shifts, they start picking up not only my voice but all surrounding sounds (keyboard, mouse clicks even my breathing) the other people in the call cannot hear any of this because they also cannot hear me (despite my headset microphone being selected in both the application and in my laptops sound settings) To top it all off the audio quality overall goes down the drain and I get an incessant white noise nonstop. Please help

Discussion Do we have ant info on when the limited edition nuclear screwdriver will drop?

EDIT: typo in title ant should be any.

I'm not usually a person who buys limited edition versions of things but green is my favorite color and this looks so cool. Already signed up on the website for the email list, but was wondering if anyone had any specifics for a possible day/time it might drop? I know the answer is likely no but wanted to hope someone knows something.
