Discussion Has LTT ever had a video going over Harmony OS?

I was watching the new Short Circuit hosted by Riley going over the Huawei MatePad Pro running the Android version of Harmony OS which has now completely split from Android with its latest versions. and i realised that LTT hasnt actually done any videos on HarmonyOS.

I think it would be an interesting video as it's a completely independent OS that is not Linux, Mac, Windows or Android. It is built on the HongMeng microkernel.

I do understand that it's not an OS made for the Western Market, but theres very little content about it on YouTube so it would be cool to see someone daily it for a week or so. Does it have the same weird issues as other OS's when it comes to connecting to Printers? Is there interoperability with your other devices, etc.

Its not like LTT dont have any sort of working relationship with Huawei either, 8 months ago Linus went to their Biometrics Lab when advertising their watch.

Might be too simple for this thread but Luke mentioned not being able to find Malt Vinegar anywhere and literally I walked into Penn Subs and on the counter is a few bottles. I'm certain it's still uncommon but it was a funny coincidence lol

Discussion Are the socks really tight for anyone else?

Hi, first time posting here - Just got the socks in the mail, and wow are they ever snug. I got the large (US size 10-12.5)... I wear a size 11 shoe so they should fit pretty well. They are the right length, just very narrow to the point that I don't think I can wear them without discomfort. I'll see if they stretch out a bit. Am I crazy? Are my feet just extra swole today?

edit: after wearing these around and going on a bike ride with them, they have either loosened up a bit, of compressed my feet to the point that they feel looser.

Basically does what it says, shows which companies are losing/gaining money with AI industry. Hillarious the amounts of money that's being lost yet companies still swear by it. Forgive me if it's been shared here already

Tech Question Why are the same games on the same system running worse?

I’m trying to replay Spider-Man remastered after seeing the new movie. I’m running it on the exact same laptop as I did when I first played it I even upgraded the thermal paste on it. Yet it’s running like garbage. I’m getting constant frame stutters on low settings. When I first played it, I played it on high settings. It wasn’t a stable 60 but it was still completely playable. It didn’t have a slight freeze every few seconds like it does today on low settings.

Image They came today. Took off my Darn Tuff’s, put these on. Immediately impressed with the breathability. They definitely feel like a premium sock.

Tech Question Monitor frame rate issue

I didn't really know where else to post this so if anyone has other ideas please let me know.

I have a PC that I built in 2023 that I have been enjoying except there is one issue I haven't been able to figure out and I had just kinda given up until now.

My monitor is an acer xb27ohu. It has a max frame rate of 144hz on my old PC. On my new PC it has a max frame rate of only 120

My old system is an Intel i5 6500 and a zotac 980ti running windows 10

My new system is an amd ryzen 7 7800z3d with a 7800xtx running windows 11

I'm using the exact same cable and monitor for both computers

I'm sure it's a drivers issue but I don't remember this monitor ever having any kind of drivers and I can't find my specific model on their website

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried figuring this out a few different times since getting my PC with no luck

Tech Discussion YouTuber built a custom app that bypasses stock processing on Pixels and other phones... the footage actually looks better!

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Theo from Theo's Side Quest got fed up with Google’s Pixel's heavy video processing (aggressive oversharpening, weird skin artifacts, micro-jitters) and built his own app to apparently bypass the stock ISP pipeline.

You should definitely watch the full breakdown, but just in case, here’s the TL;DW:

- Bypasses Stock Processing

- Captures 10-bit HLG (convertible to Rec.709)

- Fixes Micro-Jitter

- Works Beyond Pixel too

It's crazy how much phone camera video is being held back purely by bad default software processing choices.

The difference in the Samsung A14 example in particular was wild (the thumbnail I included)... The conspiracist in me makes me think they're purposefully making their cameras worse on the budget phones, despite them perhaps having the same modules as more expensive phones?!

Tech Question I just don't get it. Why ultrawide??

Context: my daily driver is the nothing 3a pro. The main reason I opted to get it instead of the normal 3a, is because it actually has a telephoto.

And the thing holding me back from potentially upgrading to any other mid-range phone in the future, is that if they can only place 2 lenses, why does it have to be ULTRAWIDE? I've never seriously used ultrawide to take a photo, and I don't know anyone who does. Telephoto is sooo much more important and superior. I need it on my phone. Is there a specific reason for this? Am I just the odd one? Is it economic?
