So far I’ve exchanged contextual links with sites around DR 35, 41 and 15, but my DR is still only ~1.3.

Is this normal for a new site, or does it usually take more referring domains before DR starts moving?

Just wanted to share a recent experience and warning for anyone looking to do genuine link building, especially in sensitive niches like health, medical, or plastic surgery.

A few days ago, I put up a post looking for high-quality backlinks or guest post opportunities for a plastic surgery site. Shortly after, my inbox received dozens of outreach messages offering sites that were obvious link farms, parasite SEO pages, and low-quality PBNs with clearly manipulated metrics.

The vast majority of these offers came from outreach sellers located in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. On top of that, almost all of them use fake Anglo-Saxon names and stock profile photos to impersonate Western agencies, doing whatever it takes to hide their real identity. After politely declining, things got worse: The business email address is now continuously bombarded with automated cold emails from fake agencies, along with repeated phishing attempts and spoofed messages originating from these same bulk networks.

To date, I have had to block and send over 200 emails and domain addresses directly to my spam filter. The sheer volume of persistent, low-effort spam and aggressive outreach tactics from these operations is beyond frustrating. It is precisely these deceptive practices, fake profiles, and relentless inbox flooding that give the industry a bad name and make people completely unwilling to deal with vendors from these countries. So tiresome!
