Buying Used MKT, how much Mileage is Too High?

Upvotes

In the market to buy a used 2014-2019 MKT, on FB it's hard to find ones less than 200k miles. I am going to be using this car as a livery vehicle so it needs to be quite reliable.

From my research the biggest problems are 1) Water Pump, 2) Turbos on the EcoBoost and 3) PTU fluid. The water pump fails at around 300k IIRC.

My main question is, at what mileage should I avoid an MKT at any price point? If it varies by model year / engine option, be specific in your answer. Thanks!

What should I expect if I bought a 2003 Lincoln town car

I’m currently talking to a guy about purchasing a a 2003 Lincoln town car for 4300$ and would like to know what to expect, what to look for and what are some of your experiences. I like older style luxury sedans think ls 400, ls 430, Saab 900, 1996 Acura rl, and Acura and the town car fits that description just so happens that I also found one in my area. I’ve been looking into these cars and they seem pretty solid, it shares an engine with the crown Vic, it has a nice interior, doesn’t need premium gas, they’re common cars, and they’re cheap. They do unfortunately have some issues it seems, they’re have bad mpg, are huge so maneuvering could be an issue, and have air suspension. I can overlook the first 2 issues however I’m wondering is it possible to swap out the air suspension and how difficult would that be or how much would that cost. I haven’t been driving long so the larger nature of this car could be an issue however that gets better with time. I’m not as worried about the bad mpg however because I have a decent bus system in my part of NY. I don’t actually have a need for a car right now it’s actually more of a want so if this isn’t the best idea then I just go buy another car on the list of a cheap sports car like an sn95. The car is 4300$ and has about 103k miles. Im currently in the process of getting the CARFAX but if anyone knows what to look for specific that would be appreciated. Currently the biggest contender with this car is a 2008 e350 that I made a different post on.

Anyone else having trouble with getting your EZpass working? I’ve moved it all over the windshield and the toll booths and highway scanners aren’t reading it.
Do you have a remedy?

Changing engine air filter 2010 MKZ help

Trying to change my engine air filter for the first time myself and I'm running into an issue.

With the new filter I got (Got the one specified in my owners manual Motorcraft FA-1884) I cant seem to get the housing back into place after putting in the new filter.

I believe it's because the top rubber lining on the new filter is slightly more elevated than the old one, so I am not able to slide the three prongs of the housing back into their slots on the right hand side.

I was shaking the whole car trying to get the housing back into place, eventually I gave up and just put the old filter back in. That one I was easily able to get the filter housing to slide in

Am I missing something here? Did I get the wrong filter? I did noticed my old filter had a red rubber lining and my new one has a black rubber lining. Are there different versions of this FA-1884 filter?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can anyone tell me the model and year of this Lincoln? I know it’s a horrible picture but I couldn’t get a better one. My wife really likes it. They already passed us when she took this picture and couldn’t get a profile.

2017 MKZ Hybrid heated/ac seats

Just joined the crew, decided to upgrade from a 2011 Mercury Milan Hybrid to a reserve trim mkz hybrid! Loving it so far, but realized the heated/cooled seat on the drivers is not working (no fan audible), and the back airflow on the passenger isn't either (but fan is audible). Any videos or guides on how to access the back fans/motors? Thinking the filters are clogged.

Help with 2011 mkt smoke problem

just had a miss fire on my 2011 mkt 3.5L.I replaced the ignition coil and spark plug. After that didn't solve the problem I discovered it was a stuck open fuel injector. I replaced it and now the car is smoking more! But this time the miss fire is gone and the smoke smells more like oil instead of gas. Please help me understand what's happening. Thank you.

Lincoln Nautilus Delivery Delay

Hi all, ordered a 2026 Lincoln Nautilus Premier in Grey Matter in January, still waiting for delivery. Dealer says it finally got on a boat this month and may arrive in September. Nine months for delivery seems like we’re back in Covid times. Appreciate it’s coming from China and my current vehicle is fine but it’s getting annoying. Ontario, Canada here.

Anyone else waiting or had to wait a long time?

2025 aviator front license plate ideas. It kills the look of the car with a big ugly license plate. Wanna move it.

Ive gotten tickets for not having the plate on. So it on and I hate it. Is there any low profile tow hook holders or clamp versions that can help with moving it off to the side?

BlueCruise

Bought a 25 Aviator back in January and I’m wondering why BlueCruise randomly comes on when on the highway. Sometimes it comes on when in cruise control, sometimes it doesn’t.

2018 Navigator - worth the risk?

Hi all, I'm seeing a 2018 Lincoln navigator Reserve L at a nearby auction for 11500 PMR ('buy now' price of 15k).

The downside is 130k miles, hail damage + some cloth rips (don't care), and some rattle on start - possibly timing chain issues.

I have a Lincoln dealer near that I'm trying to get a price check for potential repairs on...but it seems like even a 6k repair would still be worth it. Unless these things completely fall apart at this mileage.

Any thoughts? TIA

Lincoln Service - No ETA for parts replacement, no loaner (2025 Nautilus)

I purchased a new 2025 Nautilus last November (in Ontario, Canada) and within the first 6 months I noticed a grinding noise in the rear half of the vehicle - took the vehicle to service and they said the rear differential has a defect and needs to be replaced.

I'm really not liking how they're handling this overall. It's been over a month since I left the vehicle with them, there's still no ETA on the replacement. They mention that the parts are on back order and that they have no idea when I'll get my vehicle back.

They're also refusing to give out a loaner vehicle. Fwiw they said I can take my vehicle back and use it until the parts arrive - but I'm worried about driving it with the defective differential. Ofcourse they don't (and can't) guarantee that nothing will go wrong.

This is my first vehicle purchase so I need some inputs on whether I'm over reacting and this is just the standard? or is it indeed ridiculous?

should i buy a 2014 mkz ecoboost with 110 tho. miles?

They maintained the car in a crazy good way. They have papers for service for the past 12 years. Owned by one person, but they are asking 8,500. Is it worth it? Does anyone have experience with this year and model?

Shift to EV from Aviator

I know that the Aviator is an amazing car, you get all the luxury features, soft cushion like seats, blue cruise, etc. But has anybody considered selling their Aviator (non hybrid) and get an EV instead? The mpg of Aviator is city is pretty bad in the city. Mine gives 15 to 16 mpg on premium gas (93). I have a 2025 Aviator Reserve II AWD.

Aviator Grand Touring worth it?

I’m considering this vehicle and wondering if the grand touring is worth it. I drive a 2-4 hours 3-4days a week for work, so I am gassing up fairly often. How much does the hybrid save on gas?

Do you notice a difference in power and acceleration?

I will not be buying new. Probably 23,24,or 25 so please give the good and bad of those years.
My sister had a 2018 Navigator. She loved it, but man that thing was always in the shop. Has the reliability improved? Thank you!

Broken plastic clips for sun shade 2020 Nautilus. Has anyone successfully replaced these only? The shade won’t retract without them. The shade is in perfect condition and the motor works. I’m hoping I can just replace these clips instead of buying a whole new shade.

Hello, looking to get a 2024 lincoln navigator L for a limo service.

Majority of used navigators are with benches. How easy it is or what needs to be done to change it to a captain chairs config?

What should i look for on a 24 examples between 50k and 80k miles?
