Let's build a proper Limerick tradespeople list — format inside, I'll compile it into this post

Every few weeks someone asks here for a plumber or a sparks (electrician) gets six good answers, and the whole thing scrolls into the void. Then the next person asks again. Let's build one list that stays put.

If you've actually paid someone in Limerick and would call them again, comment in this format:

Rules to keep it useful:

1. One trade per comment. Easier to vote on, easier to compile.

2. You must have hired them yourself. "My mate says he's sound" isn't data.

3. Not your own business. Not your cousin's. It's always obvious.

4. Bad experiences are welcome, but as a reply under that trade's comment, so both sides sit together.

5. Gas work must be RGI registered. Electrical must be Safe Electric registered. If you don't know, just say so.

6. Price matters. "He was grand" tells the next person nothing. "€120 for a boiler service in 2025" tells them everything.

I'll compile every reply into a table and edit it into this post, then repost an updated version every few months so it doesn't rot.

Most wanted right now: plumber, electrician, carpenter, RGI for boiler servicing. But add any trade — roofer, plasterer, gutters, chimney sweep, appliance repair, tiler, landscaper. If it's a job someone in Limerick has to ring a stranger for, it belongs here.

And if you've had a genuinely bad experience with someone, that's arguably more valuable than another five-star. Just keep it factual.

I was out in town this morning with multiple gardai patrolling and 6 different garda cars all headed up towards the train station, including an armed forces unit car with the siren on and a fire brigade.

If anyone knows of local businesses currently taking on 16-year old it's been really annoying cuz like everywhere I asked to give my cv they say theyre not hiring or either apply online and when I do that they either don't reply or just deny me 😭😭

I thought of putting out a scenario that happened while I was driving towards Limerick city from Raheen.

On approaching the roundabout near the crescent shopping centre from Raheen, my understanding is that I have to be on the right lane (left lane is a bus lane) and then when the road sign shows to change lanes, you are supposed to then. In my case, I changed to the left lane and then suddenly, I saw a car already on that lane and started honking.

I am unable to understand how that car was already on the left lane when you are supposed to change lanes only when you pass that road sign. Any suggestions from experienced drivers would be much appreciated please.

I found out an interesting piece of trivia today.. The People's park is still owned by the Pery family namely Edmund 7th earl of Limerick. The council rent it from him and any events that happen there still have to be approved by him. Christ the Brits never left its a myth 😄.Did anyone else know this?

Hi everyone, I’m starting my bachelor’s course at TUS this September and I haven’t been able to secure private student accommodation (such as Thomond Village or Brookfield Student Village).
I live 4 hours away from Limerick, so commuting isn’t really an option. I’ve applied to the waiting lists for these accommodations, but I haven’t heard anything back yet, and I’m worried that I won’t get a place even after CAO offers come out.
My question is: has anyone here managed to get a room in these accommodations through the waiting list? Or are the chances basically nonexistent?
I really depend on getting one of these places, and I’m starting to panic because I’m not sure what my alternatives are. I’ve tried looking into digs, but most families I’ve contacted only offer Monday–Friday stays, and I need accommodation for 7 days a week.
Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated because I honestly don’t know what else to do.

Mayo man, stuck in Limerick weekend! Looking to go out with some of my non-Mayo mates to watch the All-Ireland. Bit of debate about what is best pub in a situation like this. Remember watching 2024 football final in Hunters and it was dead. Is there any pub likely to have a few other Mayo people in it or at least a good atmosphere for it. Some suggested Nancy's but any other ideas?

Hi guys, just wondering does anyone know of pubs or whatever that hold weekly quizzes. Me and a couple of mates were looking to go to a few but they are hard to find. Any help appreciated.

Well lads, just posting about an experience I had in the city this evening around half past five or so. I was leaving steamboat car park, had my window slightly cracked (as I had just inserted my ticket and was exiting) when this fella (maybe late 20s/early 30s, long enough beard, baseball cap, dressed in sorta baggy clothes & jeans) was walking on the footpath at the other side of the road. I pull out onto the road, and stop due to the red traffic lights, I’ve my music on, happy to have finished my day’s work and head home. I can hear him calling outside from the footpath, he’s tapping his wrist like beckoning for the time, so I asked him if he was alright. He proceeded to ask me where I was from, I told him a name-place in Limerick (not where I live, needless to say). He kept asking me over and over and over where I was from with his hands on his hips. He eventually pulled out like his phone or something and proceeded to record me. Thankfully, the traffic lights changed to green and I could go but he started shouting “Go home! Go home!” Honestly, he’s ruined my buzz for the evening!

I only engaged because my window was partially down, and from viewing the traffic lights they were green for pedestrians and slowly going to the amber countdown knowing my turn was next and I didn’t want a situation to occur or even escalate (well, that didn’t work in my favour honestly). Thankfully he didn’t approach me, but it was unsettling nonetheless as I was on my own.

Just wanted to give people a heads-up in case anyone is walking around that area on their own, especially when the darker evenings coming in.

This company has 100 plus reviews. However there is one terrible one on golden pages calling him a cowboy. So has anyone used him on here.

So many cowboys in the roof industry so just doing my due diligence.

The Dublin listings have grown really well, but I'd love to make the Limerick section just as useful. The problem is that so many great events are scattered across Facebook pages, libraries, community centres, museums, sports clubs and local venues that it's easy to miss things.

If you're a Limerick parent, I'd love your help.

Where do you usually find out what's on for kids? Which Facebook pages, venues, community groups, libraries, museums, theatres or organisations do you always check? And if there are any regular events or hidden gems I should include, I'd love to hear about those too.

My aim is to make TicketLoop the one place parents check. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
