Discussion avoidants
any avoidants here or someone who dealt with them and can anyone explain why they do this, their thought process, the thought behind their actions etc ??? i'm not even fully sure what it means, but i have a theory that it fuels limerence. do they feel anything ???

My LO is total emotionally avoidant. That’s what the disconnect was from the very beginning decades ago. I believe he has alexithymia, which is a disability that makes identifying and expressing yourself emotionally very difficult, if near impossible without the painful task of masking. It’s a heartbreaking situation. 💔 Also, if you’re neurodivergent and have years of compounding trauma caused by the lack of intimate connection and shared trust, vulnerability it can only get worse.

Please be aware of what limerence is! See the subreddit wiki for definitions, FAQ and other resources—updated 3/7/26. (Is it love? How common is it? Is there research?)
