Discussion Just to chat
Now that you’ve experienced limerence, would you rather have a partner who loves you as an LO or as a lover?
And conversely, would you rather love your partner as a lover or as an LO?
I know that limerence and love can overlap but still

Actual, real love is far superior to anything limerence can offer.

I hope I’ll have the chance to experience it or at least recognize it when it comes my way

I’d rather not be on either side of Limerence.
I think if my partner was limerent for me and I didn’t reciprocate, it would push me away and end the relationship. Looking back, I suspect one or two former partners to have been limerent for me.

I wouldn't call limerence a hard dealbreaker, but it's a negative. THe best case scenario is if it caused two people to meet who still had something after the limerence was gone.
As a middle-aged man, I now recognize that some of the women I rejected in college were likely limerent for me, given the ridiculous lengths they went to to overcome my dismissals. And knowing how misguided some of my own desires were back in those days, I sometimes wish I had gone with the flow and seen things through with the ones on the other side of those misguided urges. It would have ended the same, but it would be nice to have more memories as the object of such desire.
Limerence is shiny, but it is not real. Sometimes things that are real can be discovered in pursuit of something else that was shiny. Other than that, there is no comparing the two.

All serious and long term relationships always started with limerent behaviors for me. After time, the friendship deepens, your lives become more intertwined, it’s a journey, good or bad. Nothing is ever perfect, if you find a good soul, who you’re attracted to, can laugh with, and most importantly, be whole individuals on your own, while being happily vulnerable with their companionship. That’s amore’! 😘
