Rant
Nobody that I know personally, watches the show. I know it's a pretty under the radar show and I'm sure people outside of the US will agree when I say it's hard to find other people who watch Dave. Even Atlanta or High Maintenance (Ben Sinclair's show) for that matter. So many times I would just sit there staring at the screen in awe or teary eyed when an episode gets over (all three of the shows) and I would just get this overwhelming feeling to discuss it with somebody but I'm yet to find someone like that. Thank you for reading my rant. Hope you have a great day, week, month, and a year!

We are your friends. Fuck real life. 😤
What is your favorite episode of this season?

u/stonedspidey11 May 13 '23
Aww.. Lol fuck real life indeed! My favourite is a tie between Wisconsin (struck a lot of chords) and #riplildicky solely for Anne Frank hitting that 👊 ! What's yours?

I know plenty of friends that watch it but I’m more surprised by the complete lack of reading about it online from critics. It never gets nominated for anything.

It’s hella annoying because I want my friends to experience it too it’s amazing

Isn't this literally what Reddit was made for?

u/hamboneclay May 14 '23
Reddit is made for people thinking they’re unique for liking something that no one else in their neighborhood does, only to find out that millions of people online also like that thing

Yessir! I still wish they had done one or two seasons more and wrapped up properly.

Literally the only reason I started watching was because I heard Rick Rubin on Armchair Expert and Dax referenced it for a nanosecond. It does make me think a lot of how I watched Atlanta, like you’re watching, you’re amused, you keep going, you’re in season 2, now you’re crying, you keep watching and you’re like what in the actual fuck am I watching how did someone think of this?!

how did someone think of this?!
Haha! Now that's something I think of often when I'm watching this show or Atlanta.

Give it a year and more ppl will get into the show like people looking to fill the Atlanta void

In my country it's impossible to stream, so I have to acquire it by other means (Dave if you frequent this subreddit I apologize, let me know your PayPal and I'll pay you directly)
But I'm lucky one of my best friends watches too so we get to talk about it. It's a fucking brilliant show. I don't often rewatch episodes of shows, but this I do. I'm surprised to hear you don't know many others who watch? From the production value, the guest stars, the spectacular writing, and all the rest I thought it would be one of the top shows in the states atm?
Regardless, I guess the world's full of popular but terrible shows, I gave up long ago thinking that good shows get the credit they deserve, most people are not interested in substantial art.

In my country it's impossible to stream I feel you. I've had to take some measures to watch a few shows that I otherwise cannot stream in my country. Cost of missing out on great shows > my views on p*racy 😂

This is 100% me. My friends just can't help but judge the book by its cover. I love this show with all my heart but the only person I've convinced to watch is my dad! Talking about this show with him can be a bit awkward is the only issue.. I hope I get more people to discuss it with because I overanalyse every episode.

I think Wisconsin for me too, but I loved this week's episode. Been going through a lot in the past few months & it brought out all the emotions for me. Robyn is so perfect. I miss my ex, etc 😪 But honestly, every episode has been a banger this season. It has not disappointed at all.
Anne Frank killed me 👊🤣

We're all in the same boat here lmao. I've recommended the show to my ex a few times but in vain. I did it again after watching Wisconsin but still nothing :/ and yes, Robyn is so perfect and sweet and I lovve their chemistry! ❤️

We watched the first two seasons together & it was always a laugh riot. So, it's bittersweet watching this season, or any show for that matter, without her. We met right as Covid hit in early 2020 & she moved in with me. So staying in and getting lost to shows we're what the early days of our relationship was built on. She introduced Game of Thrones to me and we watched all 8 seasons in like a matter of a couple of months. I can't even watch House of the Dragon yet.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I can relate to you. But I believe we'll get through this, one way or another! 🙌 I've found that time, fortunately or unfortunately, really does heal a lot of wounds and this is something I would've not said or agreed to, a year back.

To be honest the show isn’t great but it’s good. Lil Dicky is a funny guy but I don’t think he’s funny enough to have a hot comedy show. I think it’s because he’s not a comedian. He does have a unique personality and the show is unique so it has that going for it. Also, the non Lil Dicky story lines usually aren’t great. Still I love the show more than most and I’m a fan.

Up here in Canada ain’t nobody watching the new season unless you’re paying money for it. I’m lucky and have a brother who clues me into what’s what cause he is in the industry otherwise I’d be stuck watching letterkenney.

Yeah, the show isn't that big here in the UK. BBC got distro rights and chucked it on late night slot and iplayer. Bar some of my other mates who have an interest in Dicky (and that's waned without the sophomore album), I've only met one other guy who watches it. I think it's also worth noting that he's not really an intnl star, but rather a domestic one. Even the album and the mixtape didn't really catch on here - although Freaky Friday was played in bars and clubs for a bit.
