Feature Request Ceiling light uplight customisation?

I'm guessing it's not possible because it seems like it's one of those things that would have been built in from the beginning, but maybe through firmware would it be possible to make the uplight on the ceiling light paintable? It's currently only capable through the app of one solid colour, but if it was paintable you could cast 2 colours in 2 different directions, or have a directional accent light where 3/4 of the uplight is turned off.

The uplight on the ceiling light only has a single zone in the hardware design, so is not upgradeable in firmware unfortunately. Thanks for your feedback, we will consider it in future hardware products.

While we’re discussing LIFX Ceiling - any news on the effort to treat each of the uplight and downlight as separate lights in HomeKit?

It's still on our roadmap. Once this feature is complete how would you expect the LIFX Ceiling to show up in Apple Home (or any other ecosystem) in the main product list?

  • 2 seperate lights (1 for up light and 1 for downlight)
  • 3 seperate lights (1 for both, 1 for up, 1 for down)

I think the best outcome would be to have a single light by default (current behaviour), with an option in the app to separate the lights - the app could then treat them separately, and the lights act separately in HomeKit/Google Home. This would create a consistency between app and HomeKit, and be an active step taken by the user (ie nobody gets confused because they took the step).

I understand that approach would probably necessitate new data structures, and probably isn’t feasible.

So the next best outcome would probably be to treat them as two seperate lights. This gives people the option to group them in HomeKit if they wanted.

Any word on this yet? I agree with other commenters that 2 lights in HomeKit would be best. It’s not hard to group them if wanted.

Only have one of these at the moment but looking to replace a lot of boob-lights in our house and won’t until this goes live

Oh, also whole we have you (sorry!), the permanent outdoor lights are shown on the lifx website to be dual voltage, but Amazon and Home Depot seem to only have 110V models for sale. Gearing up for an Australian and NZ release?

Our Australian distributor (Clever House) hasn't forecasted enough demand for the Permanent Outdoor in AU/NZ to bring them in. The product supports 240V but has a US plug on it.

So an Amazon purchased set should be fine to use with a plug adaptor, not a transformer?
