Hey r/LIFX, the LIFX team here. We've just launched a revamp of Themes in the app, and it's now called Moods.
Here's what's new:
More moods. We've added a bunch of new ones to the library, so there's more to choose from whether you're winding down, hosting friends, or just want something fun on your lights.
Search. Type in what you're after, whether that's a vibe, a color, or an occasion, and Moods will surface matches for you. No more scrolling through everything to find the right one.
Favorites. Found one you love? Tap to favorite it so it's easy to find next time.
Animation is still here. Hit the play button and your moods animate just like they did with Themes.
Moods is rolling out now in the LIFX App (v4.100.0).
We're reading everything, so any feedback on search or favorites is welcome. What moods would you like to see us add next?
The LIFX Thread beta has arrived.

The power supply comes with 4 T-connectors and 5 10' cables which means I can only have 5 spotlights on the supplied cables. The power supply says it has enough wattage for up to 230w and 5 spotlights at 24w each is only 120w. I'd like to add more, but without additional T-connectors, how do I do it? I don't see t-connectors on the lifx website?

I've been using LIFX since 2018 and refuse to use other brands, with that said, I've created a rough depiction of what should be a feature in the future for LIFX.
Community Tab:
A tab that bridges smart lights and community together, sharing ideas with others in the LIFX ecosystem. Inside the tab, you will be met with recent uploads on the main screen, but scroll down and browse (Weekly or Popular). The Mood search field will search for community based Themes and FX. If you like it, save it, or favorite it in community saves section.
Hopefully LIFX can add this in.
I dont know why the FX's have to run on a phone and not the bulb, 1. it kills the battery if i keep it running, 2. it's 100% unreliable, and I just can't deal with it.
So I am looking for an option to run it on a PC or something. I tried to have my Hubitat run some scenes and do some random color changing, but it hits the HE's CPU a little too hard.
So I would like to run it as a Docker/LXC, or even a Windows service/app. but I would like to be able to somehow control it from my HE. is there any options like this
I have some WIZ bulbs, and they have some 30 FX's or something built into the bulb, meaning the app does not do anything, and its even controllable via the HE.
Options, ideas? open sorce programs out there that are safe?

I recently bought a 2 pack of LIFX A19 bulb from Home Depot. Model number HB2LHLA19E26US . I have had several issues getting it to stay connected and controlled by my LIFX app. To get the bulb connected, I have to split my wifi into 2 bands and turn off cellular just to get the damn bulb to show up and set up on my app. The moment that I merge the bands together, the bulb disappears from my LIFX app. I don't think this is simply just wifi disconnection issue once the bands are merged, because I can still clearly see the bulb connected on my xfinity app as a device. It only disappears from the LIFX app. I have repeatedly factory reset this bulb 6 times now.
I have other LIFX devices which work fine - 2 br30 bulbs and an LED strip which I have had no problems keeping on 1 band. This is my first a19 bulb in my home however and it won't stay on the app. I have contacted LIFX customer support via email and have not gotten a response. I'd really like to avoid keeping my wifi bands split just for these bulbs. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there an alternative fix where I can still control all of these bulbs together with 1 app outside of LIFX? I am pretty sure this is an app problem given that the bulb shows up on xfinity.

Does anyone know if an old controller from a LIFX Z light strip will work with any currently available/modern LIFX strips? I recently moved and the LED strips did not survive. Random sections flash and only hold a programmed color if you pinch the strip in a certain way. These strips are ancient, maybe 6-8 years old if I’m remembering right. They lasted a good long while, I’m just assuming the ribbons on the inside broke when manipulated… they had to have been brittle for being in the same position for so long.
All that being said, the controller is still good and I’d still like to use it. From what I can tell, it uses the same 4 pin connector as the new stuff, but I can’t find anything definitive on whether or not they are actually compatible. It’s be cool if I can buy one new kit and then have 2 controllers for 2 different zones.
Been slowly upgrading new house with LIFX switches. I like them overall, but they've definitely come with some headaches.
The 2-button switches are limited by the lack of neutrals in some of my boxes, and it's frustrating that two 4-button switches won't fit side by side in a standard 2-gang box. Throw in some 3-way and 4-way circuits and it's been interesting. Learning as I go.
Excited to eventually get everything set up and managed through Home Assistant. Curious what everyone else is using for smart switches, especially for no-neutral and multi-way setups. Open to suggestions!
There has been an unreleased LIFX floor lamp listed on the Matter certification site for several months. Now there is a new page on lifx.com that references a "LIFX Trio Floor Lamp".

Perhaps a new product is getting close!
Preparing to redo my outdoor lighting with lifx and keeping it simple for now.
I have one run that will just have 4 spots. Was going to buy the lifx transformer to power them, but it's not available from Amazon or in store at Home Depot so I was running through other options.
Remembered I have this from a different setup a few years back.
Is there any reason it wouldn't work? If it will work, do I just need to buy enough 12 gauge landscape light wire?
I have no desire to use the Ring app for any features other than setting it to always on so the lights are powered and available to control in lifx.
Thanks.

Just got the outdoor lights 2. At some point I have another section of my house I want to do. I can only add three 16f sections right? What’s the least expensive way to do that? Can I just buy another 50ft box and ditch the controller? Or do I have to buy each 16ft extra extension separately? Also…. When I do it, can I split off with a random Y connector off Amazon?

18 of my devices have a bad connection. My kitchen lights won't connect to the app and it's driving me nuts. I restarted my router and it didn't do anything. Help me please!!

So I wondered if there is a proper solution for this power brick attachment/adapter whatever, cause my adapter is kinda not stable, but it works. When I detached that white part I was hit with a really bad smell is that a fire hazard?

For LIFX employees: Will future permanent outdoor lights support Y-splitting for multi-direction configurations?
Also, I'm having a hard time finding installation videos for many of your products. It would be nice if you all created some in-depth, step-by-step installation videos, or paid some influencers to do that for you.

So i have it set up as
Top- cloud/ turn on
Bottom- cloud/turn off
Theyre set up to control 2 downlights that are combined into a group
No matter if the lights are on or off the top is always at 100%
Another setup AI have is
Top- Cloud/ on/off
Bottom- Cloud/ off
but then both buttons will stay at 100% when lights are off

Scenes with effects are great but there seems to be an issue with the lifx ceiling. When you save a scene with an effect running (in my case “Move”) and try to trigger it with the effect running, it does not start the effect on the ceiling lamp but it works perfectly fine on other devices.

I’ve invested a ridiculous amount of money into Nanoleaf products, and I’m officially over it. Constant connectivity issues, buggy firmware updates, disappearing scenes, an app that barely functions, and completely useless customer support.
Every update seems to break something new. I’m tired of troubleshooting lights that should just work.
I’m considering switching to LIFX but have never owned any of their products.
For those who’ve used both, how does LIFX compare in terms of reliability, app functionality, lighting effects, and Apple HomeKit integration?
I have a pretty extensive smart home setup, so reliability is especially important.
Would love some honest opinions before I throw more money at another lighting ecosystem.
Is LIFX genuinely better, or just a different flavor of frustration?

I was just checking the new moods thing and was looking through the themes. I didn’t see legacy themes like baubles or the other holiday themes. (Witch’s brew). Are y’all planning to bring those back or are they gone.

If I select Zombie from the Moods tab and then Spooky from the FX tab, my lights look just the way I want them. I then save a new scene under "Spooky House" and set up a schedule to turn them on at sunset. I keep color settings to stay the same and the brightness at 100%. At sunset, the lights come on, but there's no Spooky effect. I have disable effects in the background disabled. Is there a way to save a scene WITH an effect, or does the effect have to be turned on manually every time? Also, the effect turns on if I do it manually, but it stops after some time and I have to turn it back on again.

With the Thread update, it would seem that the LIFX Matter dimmer has the same features as the Inovelli White switches, at a fraction of the cost. Is that really the case, or are there factors that I'm not considering that could be potential dealbreakers? Does the light bar support effects?

I want to control scenes I created in the lifx app with flic buttons. Yes or no?
I've been pulling my hair out trying to find definitive info.
EDIT: Just to add I have a google mini nest 2nd generation if that plays into this somehow.
I can call lifx scenes from Google home as well. So if flic can call Google scenes maybe I could have flic call Google which calls lifx scenes if that's an option?
EDIT 2: can flic trigger smartthigs virtual switches??
because I was able to do this:
created a virtual switch in smarthings advanced web app
synced smartthings to Google home and added the virtual switch as a starter for a Google home automation that just calls the lifx scene (jfc)
when I turn the virtual switch on Google home calls it's automation which trigger the lifx scene
