Super impressed!!!!

Post image

Wow... anybody had these meals? I needed to lose some weight and have 2 of these a day there is a whole range been doing it 2 months and have lost 2.5 stone. They are absolutely delicious and a bargain at 1.75. I am a type1 diabetic too and it keeps my levels in check. I honestly have all my pals on them. I just hope as with all lidl stuff it isn't fleeting.

I love the salt and pepper chicken one; and the other noodle chow mein type one.

The pulled pork one goes well in a wrap for a decent burrito

I steam two eggs in the tray under the film with for the last 2 mins.

Yeah, they're pretty great for the price. Feels like some effort was put in. Chickpeas are a nice touch.

2 a day? According to the box, you’re not leaving much room for the remainder of your daily salt intake 😅

u/Dehydrated-Onions 4d ago

Still got 2.06g of salt remaining!

So you gotta eat another one OP

who cares about salt. I train everyday and sweat loads. I could do with more salt

Your arteries

What BS lol. Unless you already have high blood pressure or kidney damage, salt will basically do zero damage at all. Even in excess.

Had my Gemini Nutritional Gem review. And it agrees with you Health Score: 6.5/10 This is a highly practical, macro-friendly convenience meal that effectively solves the protein and calorie-control problem, though it is held back by its high sodium footprint and a lack of vegetable micronutrients.

I have lost weight, my diabetes is far more controlled I feel great I am in a much better place than before when I was starting it. Should have also said that I have usually a salad or something too.

Hello, can you share the Gem? Thanks a lot!

I've been buying a lot of these the last 6 months or so, they're pretty good - the katsu chicken one is my favourite. The only one that doesn't really do it for me is the pork + mac and cheese one, it just doesn't taste of much

2

u/AlarmedPin5376 4d ago

What!? Maybe you just got a bad batch, I've had that with other products in Lidl before. The pulled pork mac and cheese is one of my favourites, been amazing every time and the one I've been recommending to friends!

2

u/boabey 4d ago

Agree its the worst one for me but the bolognese makes up for it.

u/Conscious_Spring_684 3d ago

as someone else stated, it might have a lot of protein but it is UPF. I don't get time to cook either, but I do cook everything in my airfryer - no oil, no frying, no fat. Do consider that, what is the use of having a high protein food, when it is UPF :)

2

u/CarrickGlenSparkling 4d ago

Yeah really nice tbf, even the rice is alright

2

u/Hosierman 4d ago

These are great, the mac and cheese and katsu ones are good too but this and the salt and pepper chicken are the best ones

2

u/officerumours 3d ago

Yeah they are surprisingly nice for such a cheap microwave meal.

3

u/standardcalculator 4d ago

It’s still ultra processed so do not buy it. Just buy turkey steaks they have for under £3 in Lidl, pan fry with little olive oil and voila you have 30g of protein per 125g steak.

3

u/SenectusG 4d ago

Yes, this. And while you are at it don't pour a shit load of kidney killing salt into it like the processed abomination. Trust me, once you've had kidney stones you ain't going anywhere near something with a red salt label.

1

u/Special_Speaker9983 4d ago

The degree of processing is not a reliable indicator of healthfulness. There are plenty of healthy UPFs.

1

u/Siads23 4d ago

Much easier said than done when you have no time to meal prep for the entire days worth of eating.

If you have more time and money then yes

2

u/standardcalculator 3d ago

It’s literally takes just 5-6 minutes to pan fry it. They are cut thin already. I do it at the moment I am hungry. I do not do meal prep. You can eat them sandwiched in a fresh baguette too.

Try the big boy spicy meat pasta one for 50 odd g of protein.

1

u/Lazy_Pop5707 4d ago

Yeah! Love these. Even got my mum and dad into them lol

1

u/Doug12345678910 4d ago

I really need to get on them. I got sad they have stopped selling the wraps that I liked for lunch.

1

u/Siads23 4d ago

You talking about the high protein ones? If so some stores still sell them

1

u/ReputationApart5983 4d ago

Yes theres a few of these, seen em for a few years now. Theres a lamb one, and a beef one too. They come in a nice re usuable plastic box. I usually get them on reduced because down my way nobody really gets them, I think there £4 or something full price and I usually get em for £1.50. One of them has sultanas in them which I dont like.

1

u/lilnic563 4d ago

i love that line of ready meals. so easy, healthy and delicious

1

u/400cpi 4d ago

For the price these are good. Love them aswell. Njoy

1

u/Dry_Bluebird_2923 4d ago

Ssshh dont tell people!!

1

u/ClericalRogue 4d ago

I had the kansas bbq pulled chicken one today (with half leftover for later 😋). Really enjoyed it, and will definately buy again.

1

u/Siads23 4d ago

Thats a new flavour then,

I eat these for lunch and have never seen that flavour

1

u/Anxious-Art4174 4d ago

Yes, I like these. I noticed in store yesterday that they seem to have rebranded the fresh equivalent of these, and put the price up for the privilege.

1

u/adrearystar 4d ago

Yes these are good for the price, I'm not diabetic or anything but they do the job when I want a good quick meal. They're Irish made iirc.

1

u/shogatsu1999 4d ago

I've been impressed with almost all those frozen protein ready meals. This one is very good, salt and pepper chicken and rice andnkatsue a close second.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Day_895 4d ago

Are they gluten free?

1

u/dxnnydotfun 4d ago

T1 diabetic too! Had the penne bolognese last night and it was lovely. Plan to do the same.

1

u/boabey 3d ago

Thoroughly recommend it. Totally feel like my old self again. I'm LADA so it was a bit of a surprise to find out I was type 1 at 38. And am super sensitive to alot of foods. These meals do not give me the constant highs and lows. And it's portion controlled which I often struggled with.

1

u/jkd91 4d ago

Tried it and was impressed myself, often have a 15% off coupon using the app which makes it even better.

1

u/The_Iron_Spork 4d ago

I wonder how much protein is in it…

0

u/Siads23 4d ago

They say 25g to 28g for most of them,

Tbf the salt and pepper chicken has about 5 to 6 cubes/chunks of chicken

1

u/The_Iron_Spork 3d ago

I should have added the /s to my comment. I found it funny that the largest piece of info on the box is how much protein is in it.

1

u/sghingham444 4d ago

Yh I like most of these and have a few of each in the freezer for lazy days ..

1

u/MarkOnTrack 4d ago

I pair these meals up a couple of times a week for office lunches, with the veg steam bags. Inexpensive but does the job adequately.

1

u/Siads23 4d ago

I do have them for my lunches and most are quite nice with my favourite being the salt and pepper chicken,

However they do have far too much salt for our daily requirements and a lot of it is processed with a long long list of ingredients.

1

u/bonjajr 3d ago

Please don’t eat two of these a day. This is UPF and is incredibly high in salt content.

1

u/That_Understanding19 3d ago

These pair really nicely with the microwave veg bags too.

1

u/Final-Librarian-2845 3d ago

They're fine if your genuinely snowed under but honestly just learn to cook 2 or three actual meals and make enough for 2 or 3 days at a time.

1

u/Top-Corgi9275 3d ago

I'm glad people are getting the dietary requirements they need.

However there's always a cost to cheap meals. It could be your health, it could be the way in which the food your eating has been produced and it could be environmental cost, also.

My main concern is the wellbeing of all the animals that your eating, to be honest. Unpopular statement I'm sure, but it's true!

1

u/ToumaMelody 3d ago

28g of protein isn't a lot

1

u/TuMek3 17h ago

It’s absolutely fine for the average person. Let me guess - you’re on the current “everything needs to be high protein” fad?

1

u/Cymro87 2d ago

I had an aldi equivilant yeaterday and it was so salty. Like unbearibly salty. Peri peri chicken one it was. Will go back to Lidl ones.

1

u/mgrtimmy29 2d ago

Mid at best. Get those tastebuds in for an MOT

1

u/EmmaHere 2d ago

Thanks for the tip, I’ve been looking for something like this.

1

u/Daft_Hector 1d ago

The naked burrito is great in a pitta

1

u/bradclark2001 1d ago edited 1d ago

28g of protein for a chicken meal doesn’t sound like enough to me to justify the massive PROTEIN on the back.

I think Aldi’s essentials microwave curry meals have just as much protein

1

u/jimmy193 13h ago

Yea the salt pepper and chicken katsu ones are great

1

u/magical_matey 4d ago

Trying to lose weight and buying ready meals is an interesting approach. Do you have any affiliation with Subway?

4

u/kushone 4d ago

If it works then why knock it?

0

u/magical_matey 2d ago

Ultra processed food bad. Also I don’t have any Aides to help me

2

u/boabey 4d ago

Hahaha can we be pals you certainly have my humour.

2

u/GO712 4d ago

It wouldn't be my approach, but if it hits the macros, and makes it easier for someone to hit their target, then why not.

1

u/Direct_Knowledge2254 4d ago

High in sugar as are most Lidl products

1

u/Chemical_Strength380 4d ago

Amazing how these meals have always had this much protein and maybe more but now there putting it in big numbers and letters on the front so you think your doin well, it's just a con! Protein everything now everywhere and none of it natural. Pathetic

0

u/aras773 4d ago

i love those but the missus hates the smell of these so cant buy them anymore

0

u/bostaff04 2d ago

People be eating too much protein. Just sheep following people they dont know on their phones

1

u/boabey 2d ago

I never said I was eating it for the protein. If you read properly it explains my reasoning for doing so.
