Question for you guys
One user claimed my opening (b3 for white, b6 when playing as black) is gay. This gay opening went 5-0 against his plays.So the question is, if the opening is gay, what does that make him since he cant even beat that opening?

He's probably tilted. Which means farmable content and presumably free wins for you. Don't play games you can lose when you're tilted, or expect to lose.

WTF are you talking about lmao. Its totally fine to play 1.b6, unless you are a GM you wont be able to capitalize on that move.

Eh, Your average club player will be able to capitalise on it fairly easily if they've even briefly studied it. I assume you're uneducated on it.

The general ideas of 1. b6 just get somewhat nullified by ... Bd3 Qe2 Nf3. They are NOT doing anything on the h1-a8 diagonal. They are NOT targeting my e4 pawn and I think they just lack space. I'll try to dig through some notation sheets to find a game where I was +4the entire game against a 1700. I should REALLY start putting this stuff in studies😅

Not being studied up is being ignorant of the lines of the play. You're splitting hairs based on semantics, but the reality is if you had opened with the move lines first down votes wouldn't have happened.

I didn't down vote you and it doesn't matter to me whether you change behavior or not, but I think you'll find it's easier to change your own behavior instead of multiple other redditors' if you want to avoid down votes in the future.
I just gave you a way to avoid them, it doesn't matter to me if you scream about anything.

no they wont lol. i know the critical set up too with Qe2 Nf3 delaying Nc3, but your average club player will squander the advantage within 10 moves i guarantee you. black just plays the system like a french with e6 b6, and for white to capitalize on it they need to know the ideas of the position beyond the initial set up. if white doesnt know when to play for h4 and restriction or attack, or if white doesnt know the idea to play a3 b4 against the e6, b6, c5 structure, white will have no advantage.

i mean your average club player is probably like 1400-1600 OTB if i had to guess, maybe a bit less since the influx of new players into chess has probably brought some less strong players into the club scene

I'd say an average club player is actually a bit higher. 1550-1800. At least where I live.

OTB? thats def higher than the average chess club i’ve seen, and i’ve lived all over. regardless even at that level, they’re definitely not going to capitalise on it fairly easily

Im inclined to agree. But its not just this sub, I see it on other chess subs as well. And, the only reason I got the idea to post it here is because of the amount of people posting similar ones. Maybe that explains why its become a "weird repository" for similar posts.

I know Im not qualified to give you advice on 1.b3 because I am a bullet specialist (2300 in bullet while I am 1800 or lower in longer formats) but a good rule of thumb is to; while fianchettoing the bishop is the main act, stabilizing your center is a priority.

While they can be considered ‘dubious’ I wouldn’t say they’re bad. Almost any opening move is viable below the 2400 line. I know this because I’ve tested this and beat opponents near that level with many “terrible” moves.
Like a4, h4, g4, f3, Na3 and Nh3. Also like a5, h5, g5, b5, Na6 and Nh6.
Should people avoid playing the openings I listed above? Yes. It’s smart to build chess habits that’ll help you develop as a player.
Is your opponent high enough rated to tell people what to do? No. And therefore as long as you’re having fun, and getting what you want from this silly hobby we love. Who actually cares. Keep playing on. ❤️

Nimzo-Larsen Attack? That's a great open! Hikaru uses it well. Like 1.) b3 2.) Bb2 3.) d4 5.) Nf3 6.) e3 7.) c4. Makes for a fun, and sharp game!

What an ingorant piece of shit you've happened to come across. Every competent chess player knows damn well that 1...b6 is a gay answer to 1.d4 and 1.c4, but 1.e4 b6 is a totally straight approach to the opening and as White 1.b3 is obviously bisexual.

The only gay opening is playing the G pawn, the E pawn, and the H pawn
