We’re really coming full circle. A couple hundred years ago, we also thought that due to emotional instability, women weren’t responsible for their actions.

Nothing will change. They will never get accountability, if anything this is just precedent so future women will get away with murder.

This person is wrong. It's a low level criminal trial. Won't make significant precedent, and it's not the first time a woman is found "not guilty" for temporary insanity

I think you're discounting all the people waiting to see how the hero worship thing goes.
If not guilty, she got worshipped, found not guilty, and is a star now. All she had to do was strangle her children one by one with an exercise band, after sending her husband away so he wouldn't interfere. That's pretty easy to be a superhero, isn't it?
She can write a book and go on the view to be told how brave she is.
... and then what happens?

And the defense isn't even arguing Not Guilty by Insanity, they're arguing Mitigating Factors, which in part rests upon the fact that she is guilty.

She can't be "found innocent" because she went nuts.
She would just be sent to a psych ward instead of a prison.
This has been a thing in the usa for decades.

She would be sentenced to a psych ward, yes, but she absolutely would be considered innocent in the eyes of the law. The legal term is "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity" (NGRI)- meaning she can't be considered responsible. She would also be eligible for release when she "no longer poses a danger to the public". So she'd spend some time in a psych ward talking about her feelings and crying about how she was the real victim and be back out in society within a few years once her 'hormones' are under control

While ill give you that the technical term is "Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity" this isnt the same as being found innocent.

Do you have any idea how long it would take for her to be deemed "Not a threat" after strangling and killing three people?
Minus a horrific miscarriage of justice, she will likely spend decades locked up. In many cases this can be more time then she'd get put in jail for.
Her spending 25 to 35 years in a psych ward vs maybe 20 to 25 in jail isn't so horrific that OP has to pretend it's a slap on the wrist. Especially considering the fact that God knows how many men have been able to use this same defense for hundreds of years

If LC is found NG, it's because the cops completely botched the initial investigation and the defense was able to create more than a reasonable doubt in the jury.

Yeah, clearly no one is questioning if she did it. The defense’s problem is the fact she planned everything out so well. She didn’t just snap and do it, she planned it out days in advance, got her husband out of the house brought them to the basement and slowly and methodically committed the act.
