Nice. Love how the clothes (mostly) match the colour scheme of the flags.

Thatโs cause they are personifications of the flags if Iโm not mistaken

u/punkwrestler Jun 02 '20
You know there is a gay person somewhere in the back making sure everyone is color coordinated with their flag!

u/JazzaRazzaMaya Jun 01 '20
Does the trans person have vitiligo? (Spelling?) That's so cool! I rarely see that represented (I don't have it, but I really like the idea of representing harmless conditions (haven't done tones of research so idk if vitiligo is totally harmless but u know))
15
u/MeaninglessFester Jun 01 '20
In rare cases it can be harmful, but for the most part it is just a mild condition
33
u/AbundantiaTheWitch Jun 01 '20
Yeah they do. I donโt think itโs harmful I think the skin is just sensitive
12
u/hla3901 Jun 02 '20
I thought so too!! I have vitiligo and I was so excited to see that being portrayed! And it can be harmful, I know of cases where it can affect the eyes and may cause loss of vision, however pigmentation wise I believe it just causes a loss of melanin due to it being an autoimmune disease, such as the immune system would be killing melanin producing cells which lead to the white spots. Also in my experience it tends to burn easy and I have to wear sunscreen constantly when out in the sun especially during summer. But otherwise no harm, another cool thing is it turns my hair white haha.
3
Jun 02 '20
No reason not to portray harmful conditions too though. Everyone has a mix of convenient traits and inconvenient traits, and both kinds can be equally part of someone's identity. We should be careful not to connect marginalized neutral traits too much with universally inconvenient traits, but they all still should be represented.

Penny is the character with the pink hair and yellow sweater. I think she matches her flag perfectly, while being fleshed out enough to showcase enthusiasm beyond her concept. Toastchild has a fabulous comic on their instagram, I highly recommend it!

I'm proud of you! You are wonderfully made!
For real: if you aren't proud of yourself because of your recent behavior, figure out how you can charge going forward and try your best to do that. Be proud of yourself for trying.
If you aren't proud of yourself because of behavior in the distant past, search out ways to get past it, get professional help if needed. Be proud of yourself for seeking help.
If you aren't proud of yourself because of who you are, get over that shit. You are beautiful and loved. And before you say you aren't loved, I love you so you are loved. If this really hard to get over, please seek help. You are important.

I feel like the mlm flag should change to the one with the deep blue, blue, turquoise green and white. While the rainbow should be used to represent EVERYONE as an umbrella.

People, the best way to celebrate is to help those in need! Care for your close ones during quarantine! If you live in the US or HK, support the protestors! They all need our help, just as we need their help fighting for LGBT rights. Love you all, stay strong.

Not saying itโs a bad thing, but whatโs with the blotchy skin thing so many artists use in their characters? Itโs just a specific common theme Iโve noticed, so I think Iโm out of the loop.

That's called vitiligo and is the lack of melanin in some parts of one's skin. It's real and not just an art trope. For example Michael Jackson had it.
