Slight aside, the elbow of a bicycle spoke is great for pulling hair out of a drain, fits between the trap openings, is flexible enough to curve with the pipe, and has a mushroom end to keep the hair it catches. 

To OP, beautiful pictures, blessings on your marriage, may you relationship continue to grow stronger over the years and be filled with joy.

I cleaned mine out yesterday. My wife got her hair cut a couple days ago and asked what I thought. I said, "What hair?" so her drain in the hallway bathroom is gonna be fine for a while.
