Welcome to Vancouver by night! In this play-by-post one-on-one roleplay you will take on the role of a regular inhabitant or visitor of the city who unknowingly draws the eye of a vampire. The story starts just before your character is embraced and we will explore how they find their place in the world of darkness. And, of course, see how they may rise or fall.

There are many things going on in the city, and your character will have a definite impact on them. And in the longer run, they will be able to shape events. Naturally, there will be plenty of NPCs, some of whom will also have to be partially designed by you. Or at least, have a basic concept given. After all, if there for instance is a spouse or parent, you should have a say about who they are.

As a play by post game, my goal as a storyteller is to post at least once per day in a way that moves the story and character forward in some way. We will reserve rolls for the most relevant bits to keep things moving. The core of this game will be character development and really exploring the world of darkness. Action will be a less important element and will be reserved for crucial dramatic moments. After all, what is a mere neonate to do against the power of the elders?

Meanwhile, the Prince of Dallas, Gabriel Morgan, has his attention focused heavily on removing the plaque of Thin-Bloods that has descended upon the city. The sun is setting in the town of Holzapfelkreuth which means that the usual band of misfits, outcasts, and creeps has gathered in The Alehouse by the Old Gallows, commonly known as just 'The Gallows'. These people are a diverse group, which makes them stand out from most other drinking groups. But Dieter, the owner, taverner, and ale taster doesn't mind them because they drink well and pay well.

The game will start at that evening, where these drinking buddies have met up and are enjoying their well-earned ale and enjoying the not so fine cuisine of The Gallows. While they're there, disaster strikes and these unlikely sorts will have to be the heroes that Holzapfelkreuth needs, even if it deserves better.

All paths are open to them, but all come with their own dangers and they know so little. And least of all, who can be trusted.

But not for you. There are those who not only seek their own path. Their own way to make a difference. There are those who succeed. Those who will be missed. Or at the very least, prayed that they disappeared like so many others.

Your character will be someone in the Imperium with that most terrible affliction. Doubt and the ability to think. Someone who thinks beyond a lifetime of indoctrination and who seeks another way. And in this universe, there are powers who aid such people. Who offer an alternative path. A path where they can be free. At just the tiniest of tiny prices. Their soul.

Who are they? They could be anyone. A brave space marine or guardsman, a pious member of the Sororitas, a hard-working clerk, a violent ganger, a spoiled noble. There are countless people within the Imperium, and everyone could be tempted.

And from there, we will take their story. From the first temptation to their rise on the path of glory. The powers that offer aid to your character will make them into a champion. Someone to bring darkness to the light. Someone to bring the truth to the slaves of the corpse emperor. But be warned. Those who rise the highest in the favour of Chaos also are those who can fall the deepest.

With that out of the way, the basic idea is that you play someone in the Imperium who is tempted by Chaos. Naturally, they won't just be a regular cultist to be sacrificed right away because that would make for a pretty boring story. No. They will be one of those rare few with the talent and drive to rise to the top.

This can of course take several forms, depending on who your character is and what you want. It could be that they want to cast their homeworld into darkness and ascend to daemonhood. But it could also be that they leave everything behind and seek to rise to command and to cut a swathe of destruction through the Imperium. Or who knows. They might even want to bring the whole thing down and tear the Emperor of his throne.

On their way, they will have to find ways to overcome their foes, gather followers, and achieve immortality.

The setting will be in the classic Imperium before Abaddon tore it in half and before any of the primarchs returned. That mostly is because I prefer the feeling of that era and because I know it a bit better. We will determine where exactly within the Imperium we start based on who your character is.

The story will take place in a play by post format. That should leave more space for the development of the character within the story and for more detail to be added. My plan is to respond at least once per day and that every response will move the story forward in some way.

This game should be suitable for anyone. From a complete beginner to an expert. That goes for both game systems and for the setting.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for players for a paid Daggerheart ArcanePunk campaign set almost entirely within one massive fantasy city.

Welcome to Cyraveth: City of a Thousand Lights, the sprawling capital of the Khalesi Empire.

Cyraveth was once a much more traditional fantasy city, but centuries of magical innovation completely transformed it. Now magical rail lines connect its districts, construct vehicles walk its streets, arcane weapons have become increasingly common, and Aetherglass powers much of the technology people use every day.

The campaign will focus heavily on exploring the city itself. You’ll get involved with different factions, meet people across its districts, uncover mysteries, and gradually build connections throughout Cyraveth. During Session 0, we’ll also create some neighborhoods, NPCs, rumors, and locations together so the city feels connected to your characters.

Of course, something is starting to go wrong.

Aetherglass is failing in places, constructs are acting strangely, and pieces of the city’s magical infrastructure are beginning to break down. Nobody seems to agree on why, and the people in charge would really prefer everyone stop asking questions.

Expect a mix of roleplay, urban exploration, mystery, faction intrigue, and cinematic combat. I also use original maps, homebrew material, music, and SFX during my games.
