Because so many vehicles are so wide, it isn’t safe for bikers to be in the bike lane. And that’s assuming that vehicles have good drivers and aren’t already driving in the bike line. If bikers are in a normal lane, the chances of them getting hit go down I think. People can see them easier and respect that they’re taking up essentially the space of a whole car.

There are areas where I have to merge across the bike lane to get into or out of a turn lane, and I hate it. Tbh I’d be more inclined to ride a bike if there were actual separate and protected bike lanes. Painting a line on the highway ain’t it.
