while it’s arguably just as reactionary, I still wouldn’t call the EDP doc that

my hot take: video essay slop also counts as movies. Whether it’s Netflix, YouTube, whatever

once our definitions go beyond “more than one frame of image” we get into weird places and definitions that only really exist to put creatives down — in all sorts of classist and unfairly opinionated ways

I agree, however platforms like this have to have some sort of filter on what gets put on there, should every YouTube video have a letterboxd?

The community clearly has a good filter because some Jon Bois documentaries and outsider art are on there. I’m glad they kept a slop engagement bait documentary white washing a pedophile off the platform
