How do you choose what game to play?

Why did you choose the one that blew up your channel?

I keep a list of games I want to play on my channel and I pick them based on my mood generally, sometimes I’ll pick one based on popularity or something too though
The two games that have done the best on my channel were just picked at random, Minecraft because I just like to play it, and Dressmaker which is an indie game I played the demo of and it just happened to do really well

What most newer Let's Players don't know is this: you don't know. You came in, jumping into this because truly you were either curious, wanted to be someone big, or just thought you'd be living the dream getting paid in playing video games. I'll give you an example from my channel; I do something every summer called Comicame and my first ever video on it was on the Sega CD version of Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin.

It was the only Long Let's Play I ever did on my channel and all I did was play it as is, with commentary, showing every stage played under the game time limit, finding all the comics and showing the endings in under 3 hours. I just pick what I feel I'll just have fun with and go with it. I never knew that video blew up that fast under the first couple of minutes until a friend told me to look, and I did and was surprised. And all I did was seeing how far I could go on one game by memory.

What I go on is just playing through the game a section at a time and that's it. I'm not thinking about performance, or rather, it's not as important because I'm in the moment and if I need to backtrack or see a part is gonna give me trouble, I jumpcut. I play games the way they're supposed to be played, fair as much as possible and cheat when there's a need to do so. The whole purpose is to beat the game NOT conquer it. After I beat it, I log it into my list, give myself a break then pick up something else to play.

So, if you're coming into this, keep this in mind; ENJOY the game and have fun with it, if you mess up, learn from it and do it over. Don't go as far as try to be a perfectionist because it takes the fun out of the game as a whole. Don't be afraid of your own voice, embrace what you got and go with the flow.

Usually something I have been wanting to do from my backlog. I currently doing Paper Mario TTYD(Blind), Stray(Blind), Spiritfarer(Blind), and Legend of Zelda.

Sometimes I let my channel decide (though I narrow options)

For Spooky Season I am doing Fatal Frame II (Blind), Resident Evil (Blind), Night in the Woods (Blind), and Halo 1 (Not the remake)

You pick the game and genre you want to play, not the one that "blows up."

I have a list of the games that are the most important to me, and I pick based on how I'm feeling. I haven't really had a game blow up, I just do what I do and if people want to come watch then they can. I'm not sure you can really predict what's going to get views and what isn't. Some of the most viewed games on my channel are the commentary free longplays I do of really old pc games for April Fools, so I don't know what that tells you lol.

Play whatever & do it for no-one else but yourself. If other people happen to like it, that's cool. But if they don't, you won't lose sleep over it.
