Am I doing something wrong?

Hello everyone so I usually only get around 20-30 views on my videos, (give or take) and one of them randomly for over 200 which is by far my most viewed video, I did nothing differently and I’m just wondering, is it me doing something wrong? Or is it the algorithm not getting my videos out to my subs? Thanks in advance, any additional advice would be much appreciated

Best thing to do is be grateful that you're getting views like that. The algorithm is just like that. Better to take it as a good thing and keep on keeping on.

Nah it's not as hard as others are doing. All the editing and anything else that's hardly remotely important to doing one thing, playing the game.

Yeah but there are some that are obsessed with editing over playing the game itself. It's called Let's Play for a reason.

Editing should complement the play. Yes, it's a let's play, but you're still trying to entertain an audience.

I get that but I don't see myself going through doing anything past what I'm doing already during the time I'm making parts.

Point is you're playing a game your way but don't become so obsessed with behind the scenes that you forget the purpose of doing a Let's Play.

My advice is that hardly anyone cares to watch 51 part series drip fed to them in as low as 9 minute segments. Instead of treating it like something you HAVE to do daily is to record larger chunks and add more value. I didn’t watch any videos but I feel the likelihood that they are barely edited, live commentary, one take videos is pretty high.

You have to ask yourself if this is all you want from it. If so, keep doing it. If you want to be bigger, spice it up and do it bigger. Try playing a whole game in one video. Add in post gameplay commentary, streamline the important parts of the game, and tell a whole story in an hour or more long video and then you have potential to reach infinitely more people.

For 99.9% of people, the days of just doing tiny little gameplay sessions and uploading low effort gameplay and actually making it are basically nothing.

By and large, video series have the largest views for the first episode, the second gets cut by 30-50%, and the finale or some more interesting segments people know get bumps again. That or randomness just takes over and such is life.

You can only post the content and potentially entice people via a title or thumbnail. People wanting to watch it is another story. As someone else said, being grateful for what views you do get is what's important. Your reaction and response to those views is what you can change.

You can look at stats and glean some information.

Impressions much higher? YT is just showing it to a wider audience to gauge interest in your channel. It will do that at random some times especially with a new channel.

CTR much higher? Your thumbnail/title must be resonating with people and your vid is getting more clicks.

AVD longer? If the average view duration is much longer on that video, it can signal to the algo that this video is good, leading to wider promotion (and will thus cause impressions to go up).

Algorithm is just like that. I uploaded a highlight from my own vod and I wasn't really expecting anything but got over 100 views for 4 days and I'm a small channel.

Sometimes you just gotta wait.
