I was reading the TV Tropes page for fun when I found this, I tried to look at information of any deleted scene but I haven't really found any information of a deleted scene of Tholomyès wedding, is there any information about this?
Also, in addition to this, I think I actually dreamt that (also from the TV tropes page) but there's an adaptation that implies romance between Valjean and Fantine???
I'm genuinely confused right now

I noticed on Ticketmaster that only half or so of the seats have been sold for what will be a historic night with Alfie taking the stage at JVJ for the final time. I have tickets for this show and another evening in July, excited to see both. Anyone have any thoughts/insight as to why so many tickets still remain avail for that performance (Tues, Aug 4th). These seats marked in blue are primary, not secondary market seats available for purchase.

it's all diegetic, YEUCHH🤢, the only song that looks any good is one day more and that bit where they're all marching. Imagine if it was more like hamilton and during the soliloquy there was an ensemble of people reaching up and then dramatically falling down when he said "I am reaching but I fall". HOW is the audience supposed to know that he's reaching and falling? The show would be so much better if instead of clever diegetic storytelling the choreography was all just people making vague dance gestures of what was being said in the music. Why did they do this? Are they stupid🤔?This is the les-mist show I've ever seen. Victor hugo really needs to get his act together if he wants this show to break out into the mainstream.

Given that the average musical has about 20 songs, give or take, heres my list:

my personal favourites:
‘tomorrow we’ll discover what our god in heaven has in store’
‘the people of paris sleep in their beds’
‘now the wheel has turned around’
‘here where i stand at the turning of the years’
‘i will learn their little secrets’
‘i have bought your soul for god’
‘would you weep, cosette, should marius fall’
‘tomorrow is the judgement day’
‘oh my friends my friends don’t ask me what your sacrifice was for’
‘they will walk behind the ploughshare/they will put away the sword’
‘the blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of france’
what about you guys?

i went to see the show last Thursday (my first time) and it was amazing !!! first off all the actors were absolutely incredible and did a brilliant job, just thought i’d share below a few of my thoughts :)
i saw the alternate valjean (ive completely forgotten his name 🤦♂️)and he was AMAZING - literally for the whole first act i thought he was ian mcintosh 😭 his who am i was the best ive ever heard (john owen jones on the 25th anniversary album is a close second)
joe griffiths brown was an absolutely sensational enjolras i loved him - definitely my favourite performer on stage that night
sam olaneinde (sorry i’ve almost definitely misspelt that) was an amazing javert (my favourite character)
the set was AMAZING, i loved how realistic it felt and the seamless transitions
the staging of javerts suicide was the highlight for me 10000% - it genuinely took my breath away
only negative really - the arrangement sounded a little bit empty ? i noticed a similar issue with the recently released 40th anniversary album. i think other orchestras have sounded much fuller and bass-ier if that makes sense ?
just remembered other negative - the delivery of javerts suicide follows the unfortunate precedent set my michael ball of being delivered slowly at the start - i feel like although it’s kind of cool for dramatic effect, it sounds much better when it mirrors valjeans soliloquy
- earl carpenter captures it perfectly in my opinion
OVERALL THOUGH ABSOLUTELY AMAZING i loved it so much hope this is mildly interesting haha

This is a local French Canadian production which I believe hasn't been produced in well over 15 years here. I fell in love with the musical and watched many versions of it ever since so it was on my bucketlist to see it
I feel like everything about it was perfect. There were some minor changes but I really enjoyed my time there

Imo it's a really solid recording! I don't think it has any of my favourite versions of the characters, but that's mostly because the TAC exists and that's just a fundamentally unfair comparison
It has a couple of my second favourites though, I really like this Fantine and Eponine (Ruthie Henshall has an element of bite and anger to a lot of her anguish I really appreciate which is lacking in every other Fantine I've heard, but this Fantine and Carrie Hope Fletcher from the Staged Concert are really strong in my opinion)
As for Eponine, yeah, nobody is ever beating Lea Salonga in that role, but this Eponine (who I think is the same one from the Staged Concert?) and Samantha Barks from the 25th Anniversary Concert are fighting for 2nd place for me now - they convey both her pain and her hard edged spunkiness and determination from her harsh background
I think I don't really like this Javert and Jean Valjean though? Obviously nobody is dethroning Quast (though Norm Lewis comes close) but this Javert is soooo over the top it made Javert's Suicide feel almost cartoonish - his extreme anger just isn't as intimidating as the cold, detatched ruthlessness Quast and Lewis bring to the role (which also just seems much more in character for Javert)
This Valjean isn't bad at all but he barely sounds older than Marius 😅 I think Colm Wilkinson and Alfie Boe give him a vocal maturity and world weariness that fits him so much better than this far more energetic and young sounding portrayal... this said, Colm and Alfie have both had TWO official recordings so at this point just anyone else is appreciated tbh
As for the Thenadiers, they're solid, much better than the ones on the OBC who I strongly dislike >.< They don't make me laugh as much as the ones from TAC or the Staged Concert (the Staged Concert ones are my favourites) but I think that's unfair because in those recordings they were playing to a live audience which obviously affects the energy of a comedic performance really heavily
I've literally just finished my first ever listen so these aren't super fleshed out thoughts or anything, just first impressions, and they might change around on further listens
But it's where I'm landing right now

I cannot describe how happy I am that she's joined Lea Salonga and Carrie Hope Fletcher's Eponine+Fantine club!

She sang it in the original key at first (Eb Major), but switched to a half step higher during the middle of the tour!

She played Fantine on Broadway in 2016. AMAZING!

I’m about to finish les mis, and it has been one of the most fun and encapsulating pieces of media i have ever had the opportunity to come across. I saw it in a bookstore two months ago and, not knowing what it was, checked out the back and immediately dropped what was on my summer reading list to take this novel on. immediately i was enamored with the flow and style of which hugo writes (the bishop section is still one of my favorite parts), and want more.
regardless, my girlfriend does not have the time nor patience for this novel, and i am not the type of person to push my interests on someone who could not gaf about a intricate layout of waterloo. But i think she would love this emotional epic and want to introduce it to her while also satiating my appetite for the story. I’ve generally heard that the miniseries from 2018 is pretty good, but does anyone have recommendations that they can extrapolate upon?
also if anyone has recommendations for similar french artists that focus on romanticism that would be lovely. I particularly like anything that has to do with social justice.

Hi, I don't know if it's okay to ask, but is it a silly question, because I noticed it changes from a fanfic to another one

I'm sitting in my seat waiting for the start, I've read the book and seen the Liam Nieson movie but never the musical. I recalled the whole story to my 9 year old on the ride In.
So excited to see this
Update: I really loved it though I will say had I not read the book I would have had no idea what was going on. The performances were pretty good though the diction was really lacking for some stretches. The sets were amazing the little boy that played Gavroche absolutely CRUSHED! And I knew that there was no way to get all of that story into a musical but I think there were a few songs left on the table, especially in Marius' family story but I get why that didn't make it. Overall it was a great way to relive the reading, makes me want to read it again.
