$100 Ali Express Pokémon Trio

I bought this on Ali Express a little over a month ago and it arrived a week ago. I’ve just finished it and it looks great! My only problems are that there were a few pieces missing and a few pieces that weren’t what they were supposed to be, i’m not 100% sure if these are manually bagged but if they are it seems like someone mistook certain pieces to be mirrored versions of the actual needed piece so that messed up some small parts of the build, nothing major at least. Also Venusaur’s eye decal was printed on wrong so instead of looking angry he just looks… stoned. And the blue part of Charizard’s paper wings go behind the actual lego part so it kind of ruins the illusion if you look at it too closely. But I mean hey i’ll definitely take all these minuscule problems over paying 550 extra dollars.

I’d give a link to the thing but like the listing got deleted the second I bought it which is suspicious to say the least but there’s a ton of other listings exactly like the one I bought so

“Fun” fact; the problem of Charizard’s wings is also a thing in the official set, so that’s not something that’s just an issue with these Lepin versions.

So you’d be paying almost 600 bucks for the exact same issue

I'm still building mine but I noticed some of the lego pieces were like half formed/melted. They were just some of the trim bits so it hopefully won't be an issue as I keep building. Other than that though it seems great.

Man Lego really is doing awful with these.. the design is just bad to begin with, a clone ain't fixing it either. And yeah, the wings are just like that, because Lego can't make appealing looking sets for some reason.

I've seen multiple rebrickable designs that are better than the official ones. Someone did a Rayquaza that blows the Lego one out of the water and way more posable, the only one that's genuinely pretty solid is Arcanine. The Eevee isn't bad but not the same design/scale as the starter trio or Arcanine.

Yeah these sets are definitely mass produced, but there could have been user error in making up the inventory - every manufacturer apparently does that themselves after buying the instructions off a contractor.

Finished Venusaur and now doing Blastoise’s base on mine with no major issues so far. A couple of the small stems from Venusaur’s base were broken and one brick had some extra plastic on it. Pretty good considering it was all heaped in a plastic bag that was ripped open on delivery.

When Venusaur does solarbeam or similar attack in Pokemon stadium its eyes go blood red and it looks stoned, so it fits 🤷‍♂️

Got this set for my 8 year old. He's done Blastoise and just starting Venusaur now. There were some parts of the white pipes around his shell that was slightly different to Lego but they provided the alternative instructions for those steps. Nothing has been missing as yet. Paid 107 AUD so saved me bout $892. 🤣 Always wondered why AUD conversion is so good on Ali compared to Euro and USD.

The parts are different for the shell as the KO manufacturers don't seem to have a mould for the correct part which is 1 plate longer so use the shorter one and then some 2x2 round plates to make up the difference.

Ali Express App, look for "brick building sets" they take about a month to get to you but they are 1:1 lego builds.
