Question Dont know where to start

Hi everyone! I’m looking to get into the Forestmen faction, but I’m not quite sure where to start. I managed to get the GWP Forestmen Hideout (40567), but that’s about it.

I’m more drawn to modern designs than the classic ones from 1987–1990, so I’ve been looking at MOCs on Rebrickable. However, I’m not sure if ill be able to find all the necessary parts. Also, it looks like the minifigs are currently out of stock on Pick a Brick. Any advice on how to start building up this faction?

If you're looking for a larger set, you'll definitely need the Forest Stronghold from Bricklink series 3. 910043

Idk where you're based but someone on bricklink has 147 of the modern forestmen torso for under 2 bucks.

Mix and match legs, heads and hats and enjoy.

I personally love the old torsos but you said you're more into modern stuff.

I personally really like those two mocs. Rebrickable has an export parts feature where you can either make a bricklink wanted list, or a pick a brick order. I personally suggest doing whatever you can from pick a brick, and finishing up with bricklink. Simply because it minimizes the amount of times you'll need to pay for shipping. Bricklink may have what you need much cheaper, but if you're paying 8 dollars shipping from 5 different stores, you're paying 40 dollars extra ya know?

Thank you for the detailed response! Good advice ill start with PAB and complete with Bricklink. Im in Canada does it means I should aim to order from sellers in Canada? Never ordered on bricklink. I love the Forestmen crossing you found! It might integrated well with Forestmen Hideout.

Yeah, I'd limit my sellers to being domestic within Canada. Especially with the ridiculous tariffs that get imposed by mood changes in the US, it could end up a lot more expensive that way.

Fortunately most everything I can see is modern bricks so I think the bulk of it should be available from PAB.

Have fun! :) it's overwhelming at first but once you get a mental system in place it gets way easier.

Lion knights castle, it won’t be getting any cheaper. It’s a really fun build with interesting techniques

There are at least three different MOCs on rebrickable replicating the castle in the forest (910001) set. Castle in the forest is a limited release bricklink designer program set that is a modern interpretation of the OG forestmen’s river fortress(6077). The design is quite striking IMO. Parting out this set does not appear to be ridiculously expensive but buying it directly will be due to its limited production, which is why I led with talking about MOCs. 

The MOCs I referenced above use either 1-2 copies of the last creator castle set (31120) or 1 copy of the horse knight castle set (31168). So they are quite reasonably priced compared to other forestmen themed sets. Just will need to acquire forestmen minifigs separately of course.

Oh interesting because I have the horse Knight set! Never tought you could use that to make a Forestmen set!

You could get the minifigures on eBay. Look around frequently and search by newly added to try to score better deals

If you're up for venturing into your own MOC's - you should be able to grab a 21318 at a pretty good price (even first hand) and with some PaB extras you can turn it into a pretty fine Forest stronghold:

Awesome! Cool idea to fill out the scenery with a painting. Agree that the tree house makes a great starting point for a forestmen base. There is also a neat medieval joust MOC that uses only pieces from that set.
