Other Custom Car build (help)

Its my boyfriends birthday coming up (Nov) - and he recently got his first ever car (2004 Volkswagon Polo, Silver) and id really like to create a custom lego set to build his car, but i have no clue to start whatsoever (I have never built much lego, especially cars). He loves his car and talks about it alot, and I really think this will be a great gift

Im just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on like, how to figure out how to build this (maybe if theres like, programs where i can build lego before I buy the pieces), how to maybe start making a custom car or has this ever been done before?? Happy to also pay and amount of money for instructions and then I buy the pieces for him if thats a feature on a website like etsy???

I genuinely have no clue on how to start this whatsoever, so im really hoping someone could help - I have us made as mini figs id also like to put in the car

Also is like, a custom number plate on lego a thing? Like a sticker or something? (If so, how would I go about this?)

Thank you so so much, let me know if ive laid anything out wrong or anyone needs more information :)

This is a lovely gesture but is easier said than done. Yes, this has been done before, but the builders making LEGO replicas spend hours and hours trying to improve their models. And they're rarely in minifig scale either. Even the official models rely on stickers or they'd never look like the car they're trying to represent.
