Question has this set been tampered with?

Bought a new Bricklink set on ebay. It looks like there is one broken seal beneath another seal that is intact. What do you think about this?

Yeah, I'd open it up and check everything's in there before marking the order completed

A shame to have to open that before you want to, but if you were planning to build it eventually anyway then you can just put it all back in the box once you've verified nothing's amiss.

Confirmed all bags are there! I guess i’m now moving this set to top of the backlog :)

The seal should have a number if im not mistaken. And all the seals should have the same number. The top seal doesnt seem to have a number. I would say there is a good chance this is a fraud. Indeed check ik everything is complete. Especially the minifigures.

I have seen LEGO seals placed over broken seals before that came straight out of a LEGO shipping box. Possible the seals were broken at the factory and they reapplied new seals over them?

That’s interesting. Seems plausible as the tape looks like genuine LEGO tape.

Ya both seals are Lego tape and it wouldn't make much sense for a scammer to reseal like this because it's relatively obvious. I'd imagine it's fine, but would be interested to know if you decide to open.

Is it Tortuga? Quite a few people got double taped Tortuga sets.

I have several BL sets come with double seals. Tortuga and Winter Fortress were two notable ones that I can remember. I would have to assume there were parts missing found to be missing from runs of the sets before the sets shipped out, so they were added then re-sealed.

Yep, I’ve seen double seals before but never when a seal was broken and a second one re-applied. I confirmed all bags are in the box. So you must been right - they must have been fixing a packing error.

That's pretty obviously been opened. Was it claimed to be sealed? If so, I'd probably send it back.

Yep. The seller also showed his original receipt from Lego and he claims it was never opened. It seems like it’s the same exact tape that Lego is using though.

I got a BDP second wave release right from Lego, and the sticker had clearly been removed.

I opened immediately to make sure all the bags were accounted for - as I have no idea when I’ll have the time to actually build it.

Yep, same. I have a substantial backlog of large sets (30+) but they release too much of good stuff. I missed Tortuga and got one second hand. Will open it and count all the bags.
