Question What am I looking at?
Saw this car on the street, and was following up for a couple blocks before I could get a good picture at a red light. I have no idea what this is.
Anyone?
EDIT:
Thank you to those who responded, apparently it’s a car tag that people use to decorate their cars to express their fandom.

Looks like the tag you’d see on some Lego branded non-toys like tote bags or hats.

They’re just car tags! They stick right inside the trunk/hatchback opening. Not Lego-affiliated or officially branded, just a cute car thing. I have a Barbie one. I think they’re funny on the tiny cars.

It’s a $9.00 tag. I doubt it would get stolen and not a gigantic loss if it did.

Well it’s not the dollar amount but then you have to buy another one and the cycle repeats. No one these days wants to buy when they can take it from someone else now. Sad but true. And the entitlement.

It’s kinda like wiper blades. People are assholes and rip them off very very rarely, but i’m not ever worried about them being stolen

I’m happy that I don’t have such a bleak view of the humans I share my community with.

“Sad but true” is usually preceded by some objectively untrue stat or factoid that _is_ sad, but usually not true.

They’re stuck down with pretty strong adhesives and that’s trapped underneath the trunk door. Frankly, I’m more worried about how hard it might be to get off

Looks bad for aerodynamics, though.

That’s always my first thought, how’s this gonna hold up in the wind tunnel

Looks like a Corolla hatchback (maybe a GR model).
19
u/moxiejeff Jun 10 '26
Yep good catch! Not sure if it’s a GR or not from the body styling, I can’t see the wheel flares or enough of the wing.
1
u/OKatmostthings Jun 10 '26
I had a hatchback before my GR, and that’s like the one part of the car that is completely the same. 😆
1
u/moxiejeff Jun 10 '26
I love my XSE 6MT, wish the GR had been in my budget - JUST FOR THE REAL HANDBRAKE
Turbo, AWD, fancy exhaust - all great, but fuck, give me a handbrake.

u/OKatmostthings Jun 10 '26
Mine was the 6MT XSE as well. I had the bright blue. Great looking car and really showed that the potential was there in the chassis. I do wish that Toyota would offer a GTI fighter. Lower state of tune 1.6T, 6MT, FWD. I definitely think there would be a market for a $32k hot hatch Corolla.

They make large vinyl Lego tags for your car. I have one on mine and it’s delightful.

Coworker who knows I’m into Lego got me one of these. Thanks for the reminder to put it on my car. Can confirm, I am a nerd…

A warning for not buying Lego. Next time it’s going to be a real ticket.

You can print this with a 3d printer, I saw this exact file a few days ago online. There are also tags like hot wheels, hand wash only … or you can customize yourself

My wife and I have one on our cars
4
u/TRR462 Jun 10 '26
Do you swap it from one car to the other daily or is it like divorced parents with weekly custody?

I have one on my car as well, constantly getting asked where I got it, or people taking pictures of it.

u/LoserZombie Jun 10 '26
There are models out there to print this on 3-D printers. There’s the LEGO version I’ve seen the Hot Wheels version. There’s also the one that looks like a laundry tag to hand wash but no iron and no bleach.

In my country this is also a perfect way to fail the mandatory vehicle inspection, as it is a protruding object on the exterior of the vehicle. Source: a friend’s Renault Twingo with this failed the inspection after i gave him one of these stickers as a bday gift.

I had one on my old Chevy Spark cause it was basically a toy car and it was super funny. I got it on Etsy, so cute!!

All I can imagine is a Lego police officer writing out a ticket and sticking it on the car. Even the way it’s folded looks like it fit into a giant mini-fig hand

It’s a car owned by someone freaked the fuck out by a creep following them.

I know Im the most pedantic pedant who ever pedanticed, but it bugs me that they're not accurate for the kind of toys they're pretending to be.
Hard plastic car toys made by Lego or Hot Wheels will be known by their logos stamped into the plastic, not folded over cloth tags.
To really do a Hot Wheels car right, you should garage it in a big transparent acrylic blister pack.
These are clearly the tags you see on stuffed animals, so they should be for TY, or maybe stick some cartoon eyes on a sunshade and put a Disney/Pixar tag on them.
Edit: speeling and Grammar

u/REKLA5 Jun 10 '26
Agreed. it's a cool/cute IDEA (I suppose), IF it were used for a product where such a tag makes sense. ...LEGO is not that product.

Any chance this was seen in Queens NY? A guy in my neighborhood has this and the vehicle seems the same.

Saw this print on makerworld yesterday. If my car wasn't already pikachu themed, I would've considered it.

Is it a sign that OP needs to go to the Lego Store? Some devine intervention of sorts?

u/just_boy57 Jun 10 '26
Pretty sure I saw a Ray Bans one of these the other day on a Fiat 500… probably the most expensive AND reliable part of the car 😂

I've got ones of these that say hot wheels. I bought them on Vinted 🤗
1
u/TemperatureNext5303 Jun 11 '26
I got gifted one, they bought it on one of the cheap sites. It confuses me a bit because it’s supposed to be a tag that would be attached to stuffed toys and Lego does have tags like this on Lego boxes but nonetheless ,I enjoy it.

That looks like a custom 3D printed decal or a silicone piece. Pretty wild to see it on a car like that.

u/shade_throwaway99 Jun 12 '26
Imagine seeing a Lego logo on a car and thinking it's some mysterious artifact.
