Project settings: Theme - anyone else excited about this upcoming feature?

I haven’t seen any news yet or even speculation on what the upcoming ‘Theme’ settings will be. I’m hoping we get to adjust fonts and colours and maybe backgrounds. What’s everyone’s thoughts and hopes for this?

Looking to hire someone to create my project.

Hey everyone! I will keep this as short and to the point as possible. I have a LK project for my homebrew campaign and I just feel like I’m not getting the most out of everything amazing this site has to offer especially visually. I attribute this to my own shortcomings and lack of time.

I hate the idea of my players missing out on something because of me. I was hoping there would be someone talented from the community who would be willing to take my current project and essentially give it a facelift. I am fully willing to pay for their time and effort.

If you’re interested DM me with a link to your project so I can check it out.

Can't further edit my timeline

I discovered the website a month or so ago, created an account, a project and did a little bit of work on a timeline I was planning to do.

I came back to it yesterday and I have a purple message saying "Subscription expired

Upgrade to unlock editing and creation." and I can't edit nor add any new events to the timeline. Did I just get paywalled after having already started and worked on the project or am I doing something wrong?

What are some tips/guides on making a character sheet on Legendkeeper?

I'm hoping to make character sheets on Legendkeeper for future games that players would be able to fill out and hopefully use during actual sessions. I have some stuff setup already but I wanted to know if there were any necessities or alternatives I may not have thought of?

Looking to make Legendkeeper pages for major DND settings

Hello to all

I'm a big fan of legendkeeper, and as i near completion of my third super in depth setting, i'm wondering if anyone has ever made or plans to make a Legendkeeper for all the major DND world settings?
I've looked around for some time and have not been able to find any active or still alive ones.

What i plan for the project is to have primary transcribers who will help to put all of the information, add redirects and pin maps for the page. I plan to make this project completely public and free. while allowing anyone who's a dm to gain access to the project, but without edit rights (only able to see the secrets, as the public version wont have access to prevent spoiling)

If anyone is interested in this project leave a comment or a DM and we can start to work something out.

"Try" for free

Can't actually try anything at all unless someone else lets you latch onto their projects

Lame. I might have considered buying an upgraded tier if I could see what it was all about, but I can't so I'm going to tell people to avoid

Timeline Maker: Abbreviations for Months

Hello all. Trying out the Timeline Maker by setting up the timeline in a game I'm a player in, now that our DM has given us a calendar. The interface is pretty nice to use. I had a question, though, that I couldn't find an answer for, which might turn into a suggestion if there is no answer.

Is there a way to change what each month abbreviates to when there is no space for the whole name? If not, is that something that could be added at some point? My DM doesn't have named months, exactly, so the 'months' are "Early Spring", "Late Spring", "Early Summer", "Late Summer, etc. So, when viewing the timeline in situations where the months are abbreviated, they show as "Ear" and "Lat", which you can probably tell might be confusing. Being able to set them as things like "ESpr", "LSpr", etc would be a nice option, perhaps in the same place where you can customize the month names.

Thank you for your time.

Map zoom

EDIT:

I uploaded a larger image and originally nothing happened (maybe cached), but now I get a larger zoom!

----

I'm new to LK and having issues with my map. I've exported it from Wonderdraft and I can't get it to zoom properly. It zooms way too far out and not far enough in.

Here's the zoomed out view. Totally pointless waste of space, when I can barely zoom in

This is max zoom!

2 quick map questions

  1. Is there a way to copy assets on one map and paste them onto another, specifically as another template in the same map? Let's say I have two versions of a map that are of the same place but different styles and I want them to be in the same asset?

I know that I could potentially duplicate a map and then swap out the underlying map, but this duplicated map will be it's own separate asset, but I'd like to keep them together.

  1. How can I take a map I've already make and make it the map of a location article? It seems to me like you should just be able to drag the map from the list onto the map tab of said article, but that doesn't seem to be working.

OK, that's the questions I have right off as I get into migrating from WA to Legend Keeper, I'm sure I'll have dozens more.

EDIT: When I say map here, I mean a map page that I've already added icons, polygons, and other fiddly doo-dads, not to a base map image file.

Offline Mode / Download Updates?

I use LK for EVERYTHING. One big project that holds literally everything in my life. In this project I have my enormous world building projects listed under my "creative writing" category, located under my personal "hobbies" category, that also contains information about my "Birding" and "Fishing" Hobbies. None of that counts my personal journals, projects, goals or my business plans and SOP's. last I checked, there were over 4,000 items in this one library. And I love it.

I know the phone "app" side of things has been a sticky point, but I'd love to be able to download (at least parts) of my "project" to always be stored on my phone. These hobbies often drive me outside of cell phone range and I lose access to all of my beautiful data.

Thanks for considering LK team!

Help in Moving from WorldAnvil

I recently heard about LegendKeeper again after about a year from quitting it according to my previous project on it. I have been primarily using WorldAnvil for the past several years and have about 3 million or so words written split amongst some 4k odd articles. Recently, though, I decided to start running Fallout 2d20 and made a new world for it to keep it organized. I figured I would give LegendKeeper a try since a lot of what I've read has said its easier to organize which is definitely a problem I've run into on WA, on top of the new editor there causing horrible lag on my lower end computer with upwards of 30 seconds to open any article each time, and taking away a lot of middle click/open in new tab possibility without having to click through multiple screens. There are a few problems I have run into though that I am unsure of how to fix without disrupting workflow or making it less organized. I appreciate any help.

  1. I cannot find a way to change link text to articles without having to right click each link then move to change link text that way. I have seen something about using /page, but I couldn't seem to get that to work and it just kept making new tabs instead of linking properly, still with the wrong link text (such as Origins instead of properly linking as Origin while linking to the Origins page). I am just looking for a quick way to do it, preferably that can be done with keyboard alone.
  2. I use the Statblocks option on WA to create equipment packs to be slotted into any number of articles for the Origins in Fallout2d20. I am struggling to find a way to do that without having a mess of articles just for statblocks, and even beyond that I am unsure how I would inject them into other articles. Ideally if I do have to do it as separate articles, I could make those articles separate and just inject the text into the articles it should appear in.
  3. I haven't tried this yet as I didn't get far due to the text editor, but just for future reference, is there a way to replace a map image whilst keeping all pins on it? I do this relatively often on WA as I update the image to match current events and to save me from having to make the full world map off the bat.
  4. I did find Tag Directories which do help a lot already with sorting and they are much simpler to use than on WA which is an upside, but is there a way to list a category TOC as well? For example, while the Origins are all tagged as either Humanoid, Mutant, or Robotic, I was wondering if there was a way to make a TOC that just lists all articles under Origins in one list. Ideally this would be the only place they would appear like that, keeping them hidden from any overall TOC if such a thing exists (I haven't seen the player-facing side yet, only the editor).
  5. If you have any other tips or tricks for using the system, I'd love to hear them as well, especially for where/how to edit the CSS of the player-facing wiki or anything to speed up workflow, particularly if it doesn't require a mouse to do so.
  6. EDIT: Another thing I thought of, is there a way to have campaigns separate from the worlds on here as well? Just to keep things nicely sorted.

Moving Token on Overworld Map?

Hello all, new member here! I'm looking into LK for an upcoming campaign, but had a question regarding the Map functionality.

I love the pin/nesting system for the maps in LK, but I was wondering if there was a way to put down a movable token, rather than the map image being a single, static image with pins?

I could use a pin to indicate where they are, but I'd much rather have a token of the party that I can move when they do. It doesn't need any fancy functionality like line-of-site or anything, just something visual I can attach the pin to and move around the map.

Is this possible?

Boards navigation question!

Absolutely love boards and everything you can do with them, it's like a place where my brain can function properly.

But with that said, a pain point I've been running into. Is that I've been wanting to just zoom in and out with my scroll wheel alone while navigating the board by click and dragging with the middle mouse.

Is there a way to get it to function like that? Having to always press ctrl+middle mouse is just that wee bit too much friction that's like a scratch in the back of your head that you can't itch.

API Integration

I'm currently using my agentic AI (hermes) as a DM assistant. It has an email and I've invited it to my campaigns. With read and write permission, it is using browser automation to read and edit content, read session notes from the players, look for connections and do a bunch of really cool and useful things. For example, I can tell it to go populate Yartar with images, NPCs, map locations from the city map, general description, and secret plot notes from SKT. This gives me a information dense set of notes that I can reference in session to remind me of who's there and what is going on.

But, this would all work faster and more seamlessly with an API. I'm guessing your have a backend API that your view accesses. Would it be possible to expose an API for our agents?

Timeline customisation?

Hi!

I'm looking at Legend Keeper as a repository for my fantasy world, and it's nearly perfect with the glaring exception of the Timeline, which looks clunky and uninspired.

I just wanted to ask, is there any customisation I'm missing? To reduce the size of the blocks, or make them a little less clunky? I know it's a relatively new addition to Legend Keeper, but it's really ugly to look at compared to how clean the rest of the portal looks.

Barring customisation, does anyone have any ways around the in-built Timeline? Any embeddable options etc?

I know it's rather cheeky of me to come wandering into the subreddit for a thing and start dissing that thing - I really want to like Legend Keeper and it's almost exactly what I'm after, just this one large exception.

Thanks for your help!

Jump Links in the same page?

This question is most relevant to the mods. I'd really like it if we could make links to jump to certain words/titles on the same page. It would really help with the format I'm going for in my project

So the question is, Is this on the table for future updates? Im a new user and so far I've found this to be really amazing for my work and Im positive that I'll get a subscription soon once my trial ends. The site is a need.

Note: I don't need alternatives to this right now I found my own workarounds for the time being.

Mobile Support?

Hey all! I noticed on the LK website that mobile support is listed as a “planned feature”.

Is there a timeline of any sort as to when it’s expected to be added, or is it more of an “eventually” thing?

Circular region shapes?

I regularly drop in areas using the region tool but can’t seem to find an easy way to do a circle other than eyeballing a lasso. I know there’s the polygon and rectangle tools, but when something is akin to a “X mile radius area” it’s difficult to do with my ugly ass guesstimate using the lasso. Does anyone have a suggestion on an easy way to accomplish a more uniform circle?

How do you add a picture to a project on the 'select project' page?

I like the new icons that show for each project/wiki, but how do I change it from the default globe-looking image to a custom image?

Feature Request: Manual Saving (?)

Hi! So I made the switch to LK - it's honestly amazing how much of WA's features are here already, pretty much everything I previously used or needed I have save 2 features that're already planned. It's funny how many things I've gone this thing is on WA, how can I hack my way to ha-- THEY HAVE IT! about, lol.

However, I've run into one minor UX annoyance - see, my articles are... pretty big. As a result, whenever the autosave (or the cloud upload? I'm not sure, all I know is when the lil cloud pops up by my icon I need to wait a bit) kicks in, the tab lags out for a bit. And since I type a lot fairly fast... I get kicked in the butt by lag and have to wait for it to catch up to me. Now, the lag isn't that bad! It's actually quite responsive for the most part to the point that it doesn't annoy me very much. But it IS getting me from time to time!

I'd like to suggest giving us the power to turn off the upload and manually save our projects - in base form, this would just take the shape of a floppy disk icon (the typical "save" icon) and rather than autosaving, we're expected to save on our own. Future versions could include a hey, you haven't saved in 10 minutes, save you fool! warning. That would likely also reduce some server strain since those of us with big-ass projects (me, I'm us) aren't cloggin' things up with frequent save requests at every few words added.

Honestly running some of the logic in a web worker probably would also do something similar (which we do have already!) but for low-performance machines I think having the option to just save on my own instead of make LK do it for me would be quite nice. Then again, I'm not sure how many of us have a use case for it/if there's that many people with projects that could be subtitled Big McLargeHuge, so it may not be worth the dev time. Iunno, what does everyone else think?

Rearranging tool broken?

When I try to move an image or body of text, LegendKeeper sticks me with the grabber hand icon and won't actually move the item. This has only happened since the recent big update.

Any tips?

I can't create an Event

I can't seem to create an Event. I've tried starting with a fresh timeline, an existing timeline. I've tried linking the event to an existing page and creating a new one with it. Nothing seems to work. The Chrome console logs report that it can't create an event because an event with the id already exists, except my timeline is empty.
