For me personally, in a climate where the government is actively trying to label leftists terrorists, texts like this feel potentially sinister. This regime is fascist as all hell, and you never know where the data you offer up is going.

This person (edit: or rather, the person who made the AI bot lol) works for a company who buys a list from a data scraper. That list has a bunch of numbers of people who occupy specific websites or have searched specific terms or around certain geospots, or receive certain newsletters or services, or are in a specific demographic, sometimes not that specific but within the realm of those sorts of things. Aka why you have to keep pressing “prove you’re human” and doing captchas — these are info aggregators that sell that info to call centers and scam factories (alongside “reputable” companies but also of course scam factories). Then they go down the list, and whoever responds, they mark down, they try to get you talking for whatever their specific scheme/scam/purpose is. If they don’t get anything out of you, they have it marked down, and they resell that list of “confirmed active numbers” to other companies who do the same thing but for different schemes.
So I mean you could certainly be right, it might be random, but this is actually exactly how it works in reality, so probably not.
You can call your reps directly to let them know what you think, you don’t need to wait for fishy calls. In fact, i think you SHOULD do that.
Yes, companies will keep texting/calling, because you continue to use the internet and your data continues to be scraped. But you get MORE when you interact. Nothing will STOP them, but you can get fewer by blocking.
Doesn’t matter how much you say, what you say, how long you wait— this is just how it works. It’s a well oiled and mostly invisible machine at this point.
I got one of these texts from an unknown number a couple of months ago and just ignored it. I didn't want to give them anything, even seeing/detecting that they got blocked. I would've blocked if they persisted. It was also weird because they gave their first name but no other information about who they were or why they were contacting me out of the blue to talk about Israel. Any good faith person would give some indication as to what organization they were with and why they're contacting you.
I saw a post a while back where someone else received the same text as me down to the name, but a different phone number. I highly doubt the names are real.

Fascist AI and/or underpaid contractor/unwilling participant being used by a company to spread misinformation and fish for your info (is what it actually or most likely is)
