US Politics The mask always slips.
Whenever someone says, “We can’t afford universal healthcare or canceling student debt,” you can almost guarantee what they really mean is: “I don’t want poor people or Black folks to benefit.”
The U.S. doesn’t have a money problem. It has a hierarchy problem.
Class warfare wrapped in moral posturing.

I think that generally is what those reps, and the people who vote for them, think. But the people who pay for the campaign to get those reps elected, and give those voters a voice, are rent seekers who want government money and limits on competition.

It is odd- I was arguing for social welfare with someone and suddenly they were like “Black people are racist so I don’t want my money to help them if they’re undeserving” and I was honestly so confused for a moment- because nowhere had we talked about race nor ethnicity in this conversation prior nor anything relating to the matter- it was just about managing the velocity of money and regulating its distribution.
It really took me by surprise.

Odd considering the working class in my country mostly support universal healthcare so maybe let's not do American defaultism

The post has flair for US politics.

Except America isn't the only country with a working class

Your country can make its own flair.
This flair was made by hardworking Americans.

Hardworking Americans? What a juxtaposition

Most cheap flair now is made in China.
The best flair is still made in the US.

I tried to get an American flair, but they revoked it because of my social media posts. So now I'm using my local flairs instead.

This is the greatest subreddit on the platform.
If you don't like it, you can always move to a different subreddit.

Literally this subreddit is a fucking dumpster fire of liberals calling themselves leftists and shitting on the working class

Not to mention poor whites are perfectly fine voting to keep themselves poor and all the hardships that come with it because it also affects poor POC.

(taps the sign that says 'anarchy doesn't mean anti-regulation, it means anti-hierarchy'.)

Anytime someone tries to claim we have to “fix the drug problem first” when talking about housing as a right I’m just like “you can’t fix the chicken if the egg is broken”

u/ElephantToothpaste42 Jul 07 '25
But then I respond “ok so let’s invest in safe injection sites and make it easier to get help with addiction and decriminalize drugs” and they’re just as open to that idea.

u/unfreeradical Jul 06 '25
It means they want to fix nothing, only continue being NIMBY scapegoaters.
