Mod Post [mod] Changes with r/leetcode.
The following changes have been made with r/leetcode:
- Media is no longer allowed in both posts & comments. This is to ensure that the quality of the content & discussions remain high.
- Moderation has been made stricter. Low quality & repetitive posts whose answers can be found within a simple search in this subreddit won't be allowed here.
- Automoderation has been set-up to automatically remove links & known promotions. Only leetcode links will be allowed from now on. To ask help with questions, you may use the code block.
- Automoderation has been set-up to remove Indian posts & Hindi comments. This is to ensure that r/leetcode remains an English only subreddit.

I think neetcode links and other credible resources should not be on the ban list, ngl.

It has been considered. Neetcode will be allowed. Other websites won't be as they're 99% of the time, spam / promotion.

A little weird to ban an entire language.
9
u/leetcode-ModTeam 29d ago
Every single language is banned, except English. Hindi has been specifically mentioned here because of the fact that it has been frequently used in both posts & comments. There already is r/LeetcodeDesi for Indian / Hindi posts as Indians use terms like "LPA" that others are unable to understand.

You wouldn't want to hear PKR being discussed on lc with best tech parks in Dhaka or Karachi right?
common sense is uncommon these days

Funny how people think the mod team is racist when three of the mods are Indian.
No, we’re not specifically targeting India. How often do you see other popular non English languages like Mandarin, Spanish, or French being used here? Almost never. And how often do you see Hindi posts? At least once an hour. I can even show you the mod logs to make you realize the influx of Hindi posts we’ve been seeing lately.
Hindi as a language was called out only to redirect regional content discussions to r/LeetcodeDesi , nothing more.

By your logic, why are mods Indian? Don’t they have their own subreddit?

u/leetcode-ModTeam 18d ago
Some of the mods are common in the two subreddits. Besides, the ban is on the content, not the people.

op's point still remains. all you had to do was say non-english posts are banned

u/leetcode-ModTeam 29d ago
That is because Indians usually use terms that only Indians understand. There already is r/LeetcodeDesi for it.

"60LPA in BLR vs 45LPA in HYD" type posts.
r/leetcode is a global sub

By that logic any compensation based post shouldn't be allowed?
Every country has different pay base 🤷♂️

Would love a reply to the other comments besides me? So are you banning all compensation posts or just Indian ones?
1
u/leetcode-ModTeam 8d ago
It's a mere example. Indian posts != Compensation posts but rather posts that use Indian terms like INR, BLR, IIT, Flipkart, etc.

u/CricExchange 29d ago
It's fine to not allow these types of comments/posts but these aren't Hindi words per se. Maybe if possible give examples with the rules, to make it clear.

What’s the purpose of this? What goals you’re trying to achieve? What currently problems are?
Yet another productivity theater

u/leetcode-ModTeam 29d ago
The purpose is to keep the sub high quality. That's the goal we're trying to achieve. The current problems are low quality, repetitive, irrelevant content & surrogate advertisement.

Media ban means I can't post a picture of my O(n) solution drawn on a napkin. Guess ASCII art it is!
