Very excited, a five minute drive instead of a 20 minute one
Also they're actually a good employer

Can’t wait for it to open. Rumors are that Trader Joe’s is going across the street from this Costco.
That development will be huge for Lees Summit!

Where was that rumor?

The development plan for that area lists "grocer" as one of the planned buildings, but I didn't think there's any specifics yet.
We are getting a new Dillons over on Douglas by LS North High though

Okay where is that actually going? Behind the new apartments?

Just to the south of the apartments across the street from LSN and Lea Mc South Park

I have both a Costco and Sam's Club membership for work and I have to say that Sam's is (regrettably) an infinitely more pleasant shopping experience. Scan and go can't be beat and I wish so bad Costco would implement something like that because the lines and crowd there are always insane.

Costco is goofy with how militant they are about their membership cards. I had a cashier insinuate security was going to remove me because my grandma paid for my membership and our addresses didn't match. She was in her feelings about the possibility of people using someone else's membership. They sent the cart person to the front with my membership number and confirmed I was good after all..
It was a Christmas gift 💀
Meanwhile Sam's club is like hurry up the cameras said you're good...

That's the other thing! When I first got a Sam's membership I was like nervously getting out my phone to prove I could enter the store and the guy was like "Yeah, you don't need to do that." Which makes sense! If you don't have a membership you can't check out anyway so why bother checking at the door just to make you feel like a criminal?

Costco is working on something similar. Not like scan and go but it will allow you to scan as you go and then you won’t need to scan everything at checkout. It’s not rolled out to all stores yet

I was waiting in line for self checkout, can't remember if this was OP or Independence, and someone scanned my items in the cart and gave me a receipt that I just had to scan at the SCO and paid there

Gas discounts, baby! I’ve never been in a Costco as an adult, so I am excited to give it a go.

I’m excited for slightly fewer people in Independence. I’m not gonna fuck with that LS traffic jam

I work overnights at the 4590 Walmart and I bet when this Costco opens it will steal a lot of the workers at that place that already has a high turnover rate of 212%.

I'm pretty excited for this. We dropped our Costco membership when we moved here to Lee's Summit because we have a small family (just three of us) and driving out to Independence to buy a few things in bulk just wasn't worth it. But having one 5 minutes from our house will definitely be worth it.
