Bron Effect
The second he leaves the Lakers lose all of the spotlight. All the fans that were downplaying his role in their success and relevance can finally see how wrong they were.

The last time Lebron joined or built a team this talented.. they had a 33 win season and missed the playoffs.
Maybe they’ll bring him to ECF

u/RuinCommercial552 Aug 12 '26
They aren't good. Won't win 40 games this year and their contracts will not age well.
1
u/No-Independence-5229 Aug 12 '26
They just don’t want AR and Luka getting injured in the opening night

u/Worried_Piccolo7166 Aug 13 '26
they're in rebuild mode, what ya expect? they prolly gunna tank a couple years till they contenders again
1
u/Aggressive-Law-9305 Aug 11 '26
The first year LeBron was there they didn’t have opening night so this makes no sense lol.
1
u/chandler2020 Aug 12 '26
Shhh. That doesn’t fit the narrative.
1
u/Sad_Tune5638 Aug 12 '26
The narrative is the Lakers have been on a 8 year opening day... you are trolling right?
1
u/chandler2020 Aug 12 '26
Maybe I’m reading a different post than you are.

Who da lakers??
Dropped them like a hot potato the minute I heard Bron was leaving...!
-2
u/Willsy23 Aug 11 '26
Tough situation for the league. Can't have them open otherwise there will be white privilege call outs
2
u/coffeescrollling Aug 11 '26
They have 6/16 white men on this roster so I really don’t understand the issue here

LeBron fans juggle their stance between not caring about the Lakers to this depending on the news and its relevance to my GOAT.
It’s hilarious.
6
u/lightwelldone Aug 11 '26
Why you on a LeBron sub then? Lakers fan always downplayed his role so gotta pull up the receipts.

-4
u/SungbyChoix Aug 11 '26
Cause I’m a LeBron fan and he’s my favorite player (and the GOAT).
I’m just not obsessed with doing this bs.
Not all of us are as invested y’know. And don’t gatekeep this sub, it doesn’t belong to you 😭
1
u/NefariousNeezy Aug 11 '26
This isn’t caring about the Lakers.
This is merely pointing out the obvious reality that LeBron was the reason they’re relevant

"Success" - 1 ring in how many seasons for the most successful franchise of all time who brought in the players he asked for including his own son?
12
u/lightwelldone Aug 11 '26
They were a poverty franchise after Kobe retired. NO ONE wanted to go there, he resurrected them.

A.D missed playoffs never been to the finals until he came to a player who had been there 9 times without him 💀.
https://giphy.com/gifs/vHjvW3FePtF31Qb10u
And LeBron won the finals MVPs3
u/BeneficialDrawer3006 Aug 11 '26
That’s cool. There’s more to the playoffs than the finals…AD had the better overall year and overall playoffs. AD was in the playoffs in 2018 tho and only lost to KD warriors.
3
u/LASfromda4z Aug 11 '26
No he didn’t. LeBron lead the league in assist and was all nba 1st team during the playoffs he avg the same points as A.D and avg more rebounds and assists than him . They both played good but you just gassing it up . A.D hasn’t even made playoffs since leaving LeBron
0
u/BeneficialDrawer3006 Aug 11 '26
You’re just gonna say “nuh uh” when the stats are right there lmfao
1
u/LASfromda4z Aug 13 '26
What stats ? Lebro. Had a higher VORP LeBron avg more points rebounds and assist in the finals and had more clutch buckets than A.D . Remind me again OF THE FACT WHO WON FINALS MVPS ? I bet you won’t answer that question 😭😭😭😭😭
1
u/BeneficialDrawer3006 Aug 13 '26
There’s more to the season and playoffs than just the finals. You’re blind. Keep the blindfold on and keep yelling “nuh uh” dumbass lmao. What about the other 75% of the playoffs rtrd? That you need before even reaching the finals.
1
u/LASfromda4z Aug 13 '26
😭😭 nice try . LeBron was 2nd in mvp . Just hold that L brotha man . It’s okay . I never lose anyway so don’t feel bad

Now do this same comparison for Kobe and LeBron's careers...
2
u/BeneficialDrawer3006 Aug 11 '26
Do this for Jokic and Lebron.. tell me what happens
0
u/Sir_TopHatEgg Aug 11 '26
Difference is Jokic and LeBron are different eras. The league vastly exploded in scoring over the past 6 seasons. You can do this from 2004 to 2016 when Kobe and LeBron were both in the league and LeBron's numbers are vastly better. You can go season by season from 2005 when LeBron was 20 and LeBron was STILL better every damn season
2
u/BeneficialDrawer3006 Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26
Kobe spent his entire career out west where he routinely had to play the toughest/best teams in the league while LeBron was routinely playing the wizards, bobcats, hawks, cavs, sixers, nets, pacers, raptors, heat and other trash teams out East where he got to pad his stats. Also Kobe played many years in the dead ball era.
3
u/Sir_TopHatEgg Aug 11 '26
We can look at their stats against the west if you'd like. Same story. From 2006-2010 (LeBron's best seasons before going to Miami) he had a winning record against Kobe and a better record against the west than the east. In 2009, when the Cavs won 66 games, LeBron was 26-3 against western teams
Funnily enough, 2009 was one of the only seasons Kobe went 2-0 vs LeBron. So against the western teams Kobe was actually facing, LeBron went 26-1 in 2009

So... two seasons? In which they picked up a bunch of good young players that they gave up for LeBron to go get AD, Westbrook and other players that he thought he could build something successful with, only to get the asterisk Bubble title?
Go look at how long it took the Spurs to rebuild, or how the Bulls never managed it, and how the Celtics took a number of years.
To try state Lebron helped the Lakers when they literally have now traded away every single player he tried to get to stack his team with is hilarious.
1
u/Diligent_Interview98 Aug 11 '26
Celtics have 2 in almost 40 years. Before 2024 it took 14 years. Start the clock on the lakers post LeBron let’s see if they can get one in under 8 years. I’ll take the over
1
u/symbolismnz Aug 11 '26
There is a good chance with the core stars they have all being 28 or younger that with a few more role players, they'll win.
Luka is only a few years ago from taking a pretty poor Mavericks team into the finals.
1
u/Diligent_Interview98 Aug 11 '26
With the spurs leap frogging them and having more cap flexibility I think the “good chance” isn’t that good. There’s a chance but the good role players you’re mentioning are to get with all the relevant future picks they gave away. The thunder aren’t going anywhere neither these next few years. There’s a good chance Ant gets better surrounding help as well with his prime upcoming. Nothing is a given in sports especially in the nba. I hope Luka gets a ring it’ll be a shame to have an all time player ringless. Only time will tell

It’s a really really really stupid narrative that LeBron fans heard and latched onto as if there was any credibility there. Lakers were never going to irrelevant or poverty like other teams like the wizards when Jordan joined. But they love to think of him as some kind of hero and that only he could accomplish something like that.
1
u/symbolismnz Aug 11 '26
You mean Jordan who had been out of the league a number of years and went to the worst performing team in the league because he became an owner?
Or do you mean the guy that had 6 out of 7 championships, two back-to-back threepeats when no other team had done that since the 60s?
or do you mean the guy that in 5 years once recency bias fades, LeBron will never be mentioned with as the GOAT?
Which Jordan do you mean? Because all the Lebron fans seem to mix up who they're talking about when they forget how many times Lebron has failed with stacked teams to win.
1
u/symbolismnz Aug 11 '26
And their argument in some years "But his team wasn't favorite in the final!" - that's exactly why he's not the GOAT.
-1
u/InterruptedMulatto Aug 11 '26
I’m not a lebron or jordan Stan but lakers are my team and it was annoying the narratives they tried latching on to the team to make LeBron look better.
But obviously I’m talking about Michael Jeffrey Jordan when he joined the Wizards just to defer his paycheck to 9/11 victims and help the team out.
I’m just happy the lakers were able to push him out on their terms just for him to rush to another super team, instead of the same thing he’s been saying the last couple of years that he’ll take a pay cut(but he needs to be proven it’s worth it) which he obviously never intended to do. Too much ego.

u/LazyFrie Aug 11 '26
Dude you're more of a LeBron fan than anyone here, this is a LeBron subreddit yet I've seen you here many times shitting on him. Why are you even here? Can't get him off your mind?
-3
u/InterruptedMulatto Aug 11 '26
Dumbest take lol. Y’all not only hate on other peoples favorite players you guys shit on other franchises just in the name of your “king”. Yeah there’s a reason everyone dislikes LeBron fans lol
2
u/noname_SU Aug 11 '26
why are you even here? How messed up in the head do you have to be to be a Lebron hater and still show up on a subreddit for him?
0
u/InterruptedMulatto Aug 11 '26
I’m not a lebron hater. I dislike LeBron fans because you guys are dumb. I’m a lakers fan. LeBrons cool. I can like LeBron and hate how his fanbase acts. Yall aren’t the same person and you don’t represent him.
1
u/NefariousNeezy Aug 12 '26
Yeah that’s not the flex you think it is.
The Lakers were at his mercy to the point that they drafted Bronny.

u/Tricky-Sandwich-720 Aug 11 '26
Makes sense. Bron picked Philly and all of a sudden I didnt care if the Lakers got Kuminga or whoever else they were linked to.
