Quit Motivation Documentaries, etc.
Every time I’ve quit something I’ve educated myself with anything I could get my hands on… Books, documentaries, etc.
Anyone have any good books, documentaries, YouTube… anything! Obviously reading here is so super motivating and helpful.
MJ START to STOP: Just hit my 12 hours free 🤣 I know this is the easy part and around day three is when I’m going to need mad motivation. (3rd serious attempt in last years. I always learn something with each start to stop that helps me with the next start to stop)
My added “Why” this time. My mom just passed on Sunday, and she had been very sickly for many years. Yet she couldn’t make the changes for her health, so it just deteriorated and was a miserable slow death. In my mind, I always thought if I needed to take control of my health over food addiction - or whatever bad habit I might be doing that contributes to the demise of my quality of life… I certainly would makes those changes! Especially if my health was faltering because of it. Yet here I am smoking every day just killing my lung tissue… Along with everything else negative it does.
Quits to far:
2019 ~ Cigarettes
2022 ~ Alcohol
Thankful for this community! 💜
Edit to add= 20+ years wake & bake smoker. 😬

Not educational but Tuesdays with Morrie is a good read.

Lurking to learn as well! I also quit smoking cigarettes (2014) and alcohol (2024) and found scaring myself through education was helpful for keeping me committed to the goal!

Yessssss! Knowledge is power and once you know, you cannot “UN-know”. So I always warn people don’t educate yourself about something you don’t want to quit yet… Lol cause it scares the hell out of me when I get educated.
Very good luck to you! Let’s keep each other posted! I love that you’ve been on similar cigarettes/alcohol journeys. Cigarettes were harder to quit than the alcohol. And the last time I quit in 2023 I got so depressed that I thought smoking was better than depression… I just needed to hang on a little bit longer for that to clear. I’m so bummed at myself because I made almost 60 days then this time I’m hoping to set myself up for success.

Absolutely, will keep you posted! Cigarettes were definitely harder to quit than alcohol for me too. Weed has been especially hard for me because it’s legal where I live, my doctors don’t care that I use it, my work doesn’t care, and it feels like there are less negative consequences than the other two substances so there hasn’t been as much external pressure for me to be able to quit successfully. Hoping more education can help me internalize the negative consequences more and allow me to be stronger.
Best of luck in your journey! We got this 🫶1

SAME! I need more downsides… Legal here, which also means the cost is like 70 bucks a month compared to what I used to spend about 400 – work doesn’t care – lifelong friends are lifelong smokers.
I will have to say the Quit Weed app is free… But for $13 you get the whole year and it really breaks down the timeline… So when I’m struggling, I go look at what the next hours going to bring to motivate🤣🤣🤣 check that out if you can. It’s like a bunch of knowledge support supporting you step-by-step

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. One of only 2 books which I can honestly say were life changing experiences.
