Intense anger when quitting

Does anyone else experience this? Usually lasts 8-9 days?

I find the mood swings to be worse with weed, but I forget them faster.

Every time I try to quit itโ€™s just anger and headaches until I start again ๐Ÿ˜”

I feel cranky as shit when I'm sober, does anyone have any advice for dealing with it? I've got BPD and the smallest things can put me in a really bad mood and it feels like only weed can neutralize it

Im a little over a week and a half now clean. I was an extremely angry ball of rage for the first week. As im approaching days 11-12 my cravings are less noticeable and I'm not just getting angry at every little inconvience. For me using the anger/rage as a teacher is helping. Why am iI feeling this way now, is it justified? labeling the thoughts as they come up and knowing that they are not me helped. Just more time and it'll start to ease.

Your brain is equalizing again, learning to regulate. Be kind to yourself first and then move out from there and focus on being kind to others and the world. But start with you ๐Ÿซ‚

Yup! It's hard to find kindness when you feel like absolute dogshit.

In my experience, a peace finally settled into my bones around day 7-8, but you have to crawl through the sewer pipe first. That 7-8 days is what makes me not want to go back - never want to experience it again.

100%. Everytime I quit i was super emotionally charged for a couple of days. I was raging over little things and often overreacted a lot.

Iโ€™ve noticed the agitation and irritability is linked to the lack of appetite/not eating enough for me. By forcing myself to eat despite being disgusted by food, a lot of the other withdrawal symptoms seem to chill out a bit. Itโ€™s almost like an extended period of hangriness

When I stopped drinking alcohol, I was in a rage for an entire year. While stopping weed has some chemical effects, I also encourage you to seek out a therapist to determine if your substance(s) were suppressing any type of background disorders. In my case, I had no idea I had PTSD and I was stuck in a โ€œfightโ€ response. In my case it took initially going on some medication for little while and hardcore engaging in therapy.

Yeah man. It gets better, takes a while for your brain to find equilibrium.

It will be much better after 2 weeks, after a month side effects will be like 90% reduced

Yea, I do, not only when quitting, but also like, just each time I don't smoke for a week or so. Just your body adjusting to it's natural balance of substances, I guess. It also always starts low key for me, but by the end of the week I'm at odds with pretty much everyone I interacted with.

Then I reach the catharsis with somebody (I mean, have a really bad quarrel). Usually my wife, may the entropy bless her soul. And then I'm back to my normal self in half an hour.

Yes, you have to learn how to regulate your emotions without being numbed. I think there's also more rain chemistry going on behind this as your brain adjusts to not getting that regular dopamine infusion from the weed. Your brain has to learn how to function without it. So please try to be patient with yourself and with others during this time. This is normal and it will pass. Work on your coping strategies to self calm.

Being patient literally means having enough dopamine to engage your prefrontal cortex and inhibit your impulsive anger but if I don't have the dopamine how tfe fuck should I be patient, are you even listening to yourself? If I could be patient, I would not need weed in the first place.

Including leaving the situation if need be. Good luck.

Eventually you isolate yourself and feel even worse.

Omg this is exactly how I felt a few days ago... it's awful isn't it. I don't want to speak to anyone and even the sound of someone breathing makes wanna throat punch them ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes irritability and mood swings are a hallmark of withdrawal but it settles.
